A note to the anti-auto crowd

I know, I was just addressing the point that the less heavy duty Allison in the pickup still handles 500+ HP just fine.

Ok I'm not well up on Allison transmissions, you still wouldn't use one on a long haul truck for obvious reasons, one is fuel the rest u outlined in your 1st rant, still I reckon more than 90% of American autos are semi autos! Class 8's that is

 

there are 3 types off auto's.

1° Automatic:basicly an oilpump Found in most automatic cars.

2°Automated manuals. A manual without stick with a controlbox and some pistons added to automated the shifting.I think it is fair to say those are the older version and also the one most complain about.


3° purpose build and designed auto's.Like I Shift,M-Drive and Freedom Meritorline(which is the ZF).These have the advantage that their software is connected and works well with the engine software.

Correct me if i'm wrong,but on our side off the pond a truck with low batteries and electronic injectors,you can pull as far as you want,it will not start.
If the power is to low,fuelpump and injectors don't work.
So it doesn't matter if you are in a manual or auto.

 

Your are right about tbe injector thing onlywith mechenical engines is this possiblewith the old three wires a with a split forbatteries and yes that constitues a cat, or a bulletproof detroit namely the 318.....

 

I don't know a thing about this, but mine is a small console mounted to the main console on the right, just below the brake releases. 7 buttons in all. There are your standard D R and N, a button to change it over to manual control and a low gear button. On the left of those are the two manual controls with arrows pointing up and down, respectively.

I can say, I am thoroughly spoiled but do know how to drive a stick- I just don't want to.

 

I've honestly been thinking about going back to a stick. My honeymoon with this auto is over.

Jack of all trades, it would behoove you to learn how, it will help you in the long run . Find a geezer with an old two stick one stack mack with a coffin on the back, you'll get yourself an edumacation......

 

Don't forget the Walking beam suspension and Arm strong steering.....Bob that's just mean.
