The packet says the rider can't have a CDL. Does anyone know if that also means CDL-B?

My wife has a B and I was planning to have her come out with me for a while.

Why not just ask your DM?

Someone needs to answer this. My wife has a Class A CDL and I want her to come w/ me.

I spoke to my DM this morning. He says she's fine with a B, but wouldn't be able to get on the truck if she had an A.

Mark, no, unless she is a Swift driver and you guys are running as a team. They know if we have a rider with a CDL the temptation is there, and too strong for some, to share the driving.

If she wants to get coded with Swift, you can be her mentor after you take the mentor classes. One of my group at the Swift Academy did that. Maybe one of the mentors on here can tell you what the classes involve.

How can we get rid of the CDL then?

Call your local DMV but I imagine just go in and apply for a non-CDL. When I was in Florida they seemed to be straightforward about stuff.

It's a lot easier to get rid of than to get back. If she doesn't plan to use it ever again, she should be able to easily get it changed to a regular license at the DMV.

We used to be OTR team drivers but that didn't work out too good, I doubt she'd ever drive a truck again. I'd rather have her come with me on her days off.
