You bring up a missed point.....until your out there on your own. It is a disgrace, diservice to everyone that training is so poor at OTR companies. I could not do it, my hats off to you people that take these big companies training and actually hit the road.
Any female otr students out there with male trainers?

Well I haven't seen too many trainers input on this thread , so I'll give you my .02 just because there's not much else going on. I was a trainer for almost 4 years. Not because I loved training or it was the right thing to do. However, with that being said out of 85 trainers for a 1000+ truck company I was always the one they came to if they didn't have any female trainers (only 5 at the time). Now I'm not writing this to somehow put myself over, cause I did it purely for better money and pay my truck off faster and being able to leave and go on my own as an o/o. After training both male and female I tend to say that it's a wash on who's better to train.(It's all nerve-wrecking as hell) With guys when they started to screw up you can tend to be firmer with, even though I was firm with whoever I trained. Women do tend to catch on faster because right away they feel they need to prove that they're not a girl
Being that as it may, I never treated any females different from guys and they always that they appreciated that. One thing females need to learn real quick and sure most have figured out, is that being in a male dominated industry such as the transportation industry you have to develop thick skin and I guess that can apply to anyone. Your gonna have your douchebags firing on you at all angles, but I guess that can happen anywhere. I always find it funny when you that guy you know....that guy who looks like he just crawled out of a garbage can looking like oscar the grouch's cousin. That same guy who probably makes a decent living, wearing 4 day old sweats, $10 shoes and some raggely shirt hitting on the female driver across the restaurant . Sorry I got off on a tangent, where was I? Also there is the problem with a female trainer is that most females don't get along and so they call me so she can finish her training and move on with her life. Out of the twenty something females I trained, I only had a problem with 3 of them. 1 girl could not shift to save her life, another thought she could sleep her way out of her passing/not passing, and the other was firing on me from all angles trying to find her man lol! Not that she wasnt a good looking girl, but I see putting myself in a predicament and most of you females know some women can be scandalous lol! I don't know if I've really given you good advice cause I'm sure there's already enough on here. I just thought I would share my experience with y'all. Being a trainer if you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer the best I can
pjay and rogercausey Thank this. -
As has been mentioned earlier most companies won't put males/females together if they can help it. Reagardless of who you're paired with notify someone in the office ASAP if you have any issues w/ your trainer, some people don't have the ability to train & others are only in t for the extra $$.

I here little mention of it in the forum... Not to detract from the topic @ hand of course... -
I trained two females at once before (they were sisters and didn't want to be split up) and that was an exhausting experience. For starters having two students is horrible then add the extras of training females. They wanted a shower every day plus truck stop facilities wherever we parked for the night.
They both brought way too much stuff with them and when we stop for fuel it would take them 30 minutes to use the bathroom and get food. -
i trained 2 women, not much trouble. Actually the are easier to teach.
rogercausey Thanks this. -
new student myself and looking for a good company to start, but i dont know how i feel being otr 6 to 8 weeks with a male trainer..

I trained 4 women when I trained with CRE ...only had a prob with 1 who tried to get me fired by claiming sexual harrasment. Was found out she also tried it with her first trainer who had been with CRE for over 20yrs and she wouldn't give times and dates. CRE wouldn't take her account seriously since she also had numerous complaints against her. They also went to the other women I had trained who swore I was nothing but a professional in my manner and training.
I sorta gave up on the women after that. Still was a trainer tho just stayed away from the females.
