is U.S Xpress good company to work for? why it's very bad company?

A Us Express Recruiter came to my trucking school today and did their best to sugar coat everything and make us think we could make big money. It was like "you can go to Dallas for a week of training and make a whopping $400!!" The good part I thought was that the work was 98% drop hook and that the 2% non drop hook they would pay for the lumpers. The bad I think is that they are recruiting teams and I don't know how well I can get a good nights sleep in a moving truck. I have also learned from this board that finding the right team member is very important. Of course the recruiter glossed over that part.

 

Well I just left us x this May 2012 and most of the origional things in this thread were correct. we drove teams made money but had to put in 100 to 200 free miles each trip that we didnt get paid for. when payroll made a mistake or you had to get reinbursed for straps ec.t (amazon loads) took for ever if they made a mistake on there end. You could spend up to 2 hrs on hold on the phone if the skybox was down (there bad version of quall com) they have some of the worst fleet manangers I ever seen. I'm not saying they are all bad but I only know of one good one. my suggestion is stay away

 

That is my biggest complaint with USX, is they dont get everything cleared until you get to orientation, then if they dont want you you are stuck like a jb hunt driver at the intermodal yard, other than that, yes they have issues, but we ran team and lease team, and were happy, just tired of being OTR, now im local hauling gasoline, if you have your crap together they arent all that bad, but honestly being OTR is more lifestyle than income, want to make money and pay bills, work local, id go back to USX

 

Its not a problem scanning, useless just doesn't pay sometimes. I had a lumper check $175 taken out of my pay for a week because the idiots in payroll didnt like the receipt from the large lumper service. They did pay that but not when they should have.

 

recruiters are as stupid as can be about the job. Night and weekend dispatchers know nothing and usually they are sexy college girls on the phone so you dont get ticked about them calling you at 3am for some stupid verbal confirmation on a load. Shippensburg isnt such a bad terminal but does have one washer and dryer which is quite stupid.
