You can not go and use your motorcycle experience as a reference when applying for a job. However, good defensive driving is a plus and you can mention the motorcycle experience in talk. Just be sure they know you are not trying to compare the two as the same. What you will be trying to get across is your safe defensive driving habits. You also have to realize that defensive driving needs to be proved and not just documented. Of course safe driving awards count for a lot but your actual on hands experience is what they want to see.

He did not ask if it would help his resume, he asked if it would make him a better driver.

    I would say yes.

Being safe on a bike means looking out for everything and anything! Idiot drivers, road hazards, etc...

Have 7 bikes from crf250r to cbr1000r and 1 big truck. One has nothing to do with the other. Your a good writer, and with all that riding experience you should be a test rider somewhere . If you apply for a truck driving job might not want to push the bike thing.

I'm a biker myself! in the past before the recession hit here I had quite a number of trucks, I found bikers made excellent drivers and I have insurance records to back that up, I think bikers have better awareness of other road users and are more cautious in wet or slippery conditions! Worst drivers I've had were city 'boy racer' types, loud mouths that only thought they could drive, not stereotyping anyone but that's my experience!

I think each of you has been RIGHT ON with your comments and thank you for sharing and making me smile! :biggrin_25519:

Feel free to keep your ideas coming and I'll do my best to keep future postings short, sweet and to the point instead of the long-winded, book-length posting that started this thread. :biggrin_25518:

Ridin a bike means tryin not to get hit by someone. Driving a truck means tryin not to hit something.
