Hey Bigblue
It was just mostly problems with my dispatcher due to the fact she is fairly new at the dispatch thing.
I stated in a previous post on the board that my dispatcher made me late for a load due to the fact no one knew my appointment time untill the night before delivery and there was no way I could legaly make it.
Atleast that is what she claimed but dobt that she was even trying to find out the time.
Night dispatch is the one that informed me of the delivery time all it took was one msg to them and they were able to locate the time. That just makes my dispatcher look like a liar. I was on her butt even before I picked up the preloaded trlr to give me the appointment time she kept saying I'll get it and pass it along to you.
But I did make sure to cover my butt. I send a reply to the night dispatch that I was never infomed of the appointment time and that my dispatcher was suppose to find out the time and she never did.
My dispatcher had a habit of calling me on my days off the last time off I took I requested 5 days which she approved it then a day before I was scheduled to go home she informed me that I was to take only 4 days per her boss and she called me every day but one of those days some times more than once per day.
That was the final straw.
I think it would of been better if I had a T.V. that is what I was missing the most I was able to talk to some people.
My problems was not with May it was only the problems with my dispatcher ie not getting me the time off that I had earned the lies from my dispatcher. and missing T.V. that made me quit
Another reason I quit was due to not having enough experince driving and it had started snowing up in the mountains I did not feel that I was going to be safe out there during the winter months I prefer not to kill myself or endanger alot of others on the road due to my inexperince. I will not risk my cdl for anything.
That shows everyone that I am a better person for quitting and I am not trying to be a supertrucker thinking that I can handle everything.
I did drive enough in the pooring down rain, I was also getting comfortable driving through the construction areas by the k rail

You quit because you were missing your TV? Also, are you saying you talk to your TV set? What are you saying? I'm not getting it. I'm going by what you've posted, but I need some kind of clue here. People who drive trucks don't watch TV enough to miss it. I don't even drive trucks, but I don't watch the idiot tube, either.
Missing my TV set is one of the last things that would drive me out of a job. But I'd never miss TV. I have a brand new one sitting in the closet collecting dust. You want it? Come get it. -
I was able to talk to some people / other drivers when I had to stop at truckstops for fuel or at our terminals.
I use to watch alot of tv before I started truck driving. -
I am leaving next week to Orientation for MAY any advice or anything I or anybody else should know? Thanks for the advice Take Care

If you get amy in layton ut ask for another dispatcher.
She is fairly new and will try and push you and not get you the hometime that is due to you. She may give you a load that does not have a delivery time and when you end up being late try to pin it on you.
The best advice that I have been given by another driver is when you reply to the preplan that has no delivery time on it say no that you can not deliver on time due to not having a delivery time on the preplan that way you will cover your butt. -
You've been jamming gears for so long yourself there Chief. -
You can't be late on a load and have it be your fault, if you drove your hours at May. If you confirm a load without a delivery time then you put your eta/pta in the comment section and on a mac 16 to the dispatcher.

To start with they spend a considerable amount of money to get you to orientation, It does not make sense that they would fire you if you were a qualified driver. Recruiting and orientation is all about getting you going down the road. There must have been something you did that warranted the termination. My opinion of the drive test is that if you could not pass it you should not be driving.
My problems whith May came from equipment. May uses a system that has a mechanic or tire man measure the tread depth on the trailer tires at the beginning of each month, the problem is that tires wear out sometimes before the tag expires. They had me dispatched on a load from Phoenix to Albuerque NM, drop n hook in phx yard. The problem was the trailer had tires that were less than 1/32", I notified dispatch and was told to take it deliver and get a tire in Albuerque NM. I delivered went to the TA as per there directions called in for authorization and was switched to a shop mechanic in Salem Or that had inspected the tires and stickered the trailer. He stated that there could be no way the tire was under 1/32 and refused thee tire purchase, so I refused to mo the truck. They bought the tire and kept my safety bonus for me refusing to move on a dispatch. Anyway I would not work for them again. Run fast the other way. Its about May making money and they will lie to drivers to accomplish this.. -
Heck every trucking company I have worked for wants you to drive on bad trailer tires as long as they hold air.
May does have allot of bad trailers but they are buying new ones. As cheap as they are this is indeed a accomplishment. You could also have taken the trailer to the nearest open scale house and had the trailer put out of service until the tire was changed if it was so bad.
I also believe you only need to have 2 groves that are of a acceptable depth, not the whole tire.
May told me to bring my flat back to the term. Don't know why they refused your tire change if it was verified by the TA and they could then have you bring the bad tire back for inspection. -
Does May have any terminals here in the northeast? I see mostly Peterbuilt
379's with big sleepers. Is that the only tractors they own?
