Although Crete pretends to care for their drivers by demonstrated hisotry all they care about is the almighty buck. Drivers who properly report on their VI broken and dangerous broken drivers seats, reported need for service/replacement of vital truck parts are ignored or half fixed, verbal and written service requests are ignored repeatedly, loss of production is evident while drivers sit to wait for parts unauthorized simply to make themselves look good on paper. Drivers have been requested to driver illegal, drive overloaded and sneak past weigh stations and provide drivers with false alcohol licenses and even fraudulent documents when a driver insist they have one before entering a state like NJ which requires a license entering in and through and to deliver booze. I would not want YOU to risk you CDL.Would you?![]()

This isn't really news since the Alvin Wilkerson accident details came to light, right? How the dispatcher was pushing him hard with text messages to drive anyway he can to get that bottled water (because lord knows bottled water is so ###### important and time-sensitive), which all came out in court?
At any rate, I can't say I am surprised by this post. I always give the Crete trucks a pretty wide lane since we don't know how much sleep they've gotten! Coolie carrier material. But maybe I'm looking at this all wrong. Crete - They make us all look better! -
I've worked for Crete for almost 4 years, and haven't had any of the issues you're talking about.
While sometimes waiting to get repairs made takes way longer than I think it should, I have never been refused to have them made.
As far as being asked to drive overweight or dodge weigh stations, I've never even had a discussion like this. In fact I've rarely even talked to anyone at Lincoln, and that's fine with me.
A far as the liquor licenses in NJ, I've only hauled 6-8 loads from there, but have always had the license faxed to them waiting for me,a long as I called in and got it set up with dispatch.
I just find this story unbelievable, I know Crete is not perfect, but my experience is a long as you do your job you won't here much from them. I don't do anything illegal and I rarely ever call them on the phone. If I have any mechanical issues I just work w/breakdown via the qc. It always takes way too long, but gets handled. The maintenance issues taking way too long is my only beef since I've been here, and communication with night/weekend people is sometimes irritating, but I know they are most likely understaffed.
All I can say is on my 3 plus years here,I've gotten my raise every year and have averaged around 2750 miles/week for the past 2 years. Maybe I'm not the norm, but it is my experience here. Never been pushed to run illegal (i wouldn't do it if I was)i try to do my job and stay out of the cross hairs. Seems to work for me. -
let's see, breakergal with less than 1 yr as trucker and andre with 3 yrs....hey bowlwinkle you sound like you have a good handle on ccc...i drove for them for 7 yrs. as truck load carriers go crete is the best of them all. you are right, once in awhile a trip to the shop was a bit long...but the trucks get fixed. and i never had a problem with any permit for any state. if i was to go back over road, ccc would be first and only call. stay safe bowlwinkle...

Sargetom the Crete you worked for is not the Crete of today. I worked for them in the past too and I wouldnt go back on a bet. I know way too many old time Crete drivers that are only there because they are at the top of the payscale.

Ive worked for several companies. Crete is 2nd on top. They try to pull bullcrap once in awhile but i let them know im the captain of this ship. They learn quick. So far things good and gettin better here. I look at it this way,i can work here r somewere else doesnt matter to me. My miles are picking up average est 2200 a week but pay above most places. Good luck and be safe all.

I've been with Crete just over 5 years now and I don't see what the OP is talking about at all. I get QC msgs a few times a year Re; this permit or that permit and they always have them waiting for us at the terminals in some cases I've had them mailed to my home! I've never been pushed to drive harder or past my limits, I have had them shut me down 2x cause of bad weather THEY CALLED ME!
Only one time have they ever said run with a heavy load and that was a possible overweight and the only scale was 40 minites out of route and it would have put me over my 11hr so they said run it and accepted the responsibilty.(made it no-prob)
Repairs in the shop?? yeah they take awhile but not any longer than JB and SNI and with the exception of a wheel aliagment not being done(or done right) and the new tires wearing out I can't complain to much about them.
My biggest complaint is if your name comes up for a random test it has to be done at Crete instead of a nearby health facilty, but we're working on that. Pay is always what they owe you , no games there.
What more could you ask for?
To me it sounds like the OP just couldn't make the cut or didn't like the high level of scrutny the log dept. puts newbies thru. Oh well better luck next time.Lonesome Thanks this. -
even tho im quitting i still like crete they never had me run illegal or any of the other stuff ur talking about.they r really good people that cares about their drivers id recommend them to anyone

Hey look, I could be a trucker's wife or a dog on the internet and still know enough to google Alvin Wilkerson. Read all about it. Please don't take my word for it.
EDIT: here ya go, compliments of the truckers report. And Bowlewinkle, if you've been with them for 4 years, then you prolly remember this incident? Curious to know your thoughts on it...
