Life at American Central Transport (ACT)

I applied to ACT back in September and it just didn't work out back then. Things have changed for me, and I am approved and headed to Liberty, MO on Monday for orientation Tuesday morning. I wish it had worked out back then, but better late than never. I will not be starting a new ACT thread, however. There seem to be plenty to go around.

Who has experience with the newer trucks with Paccar engines? I am looking to lease a white 2011. I know it uses DEF.

 

I believe Kujo can weigh in on that. I'm pretty sure that's what he has. I have a 2011, but it's pre def and has a cummins. Did they have any 2010's to choose from?

Yep I have that setup. I like it although I think the isx is a stronger engine. But what it lacks in power it makes up for in efficiency in my opinion. As for the def it's been averaging about $25 a week for it. I fill it from the pump once per week rarely gets below half a tank.

 

Marsha said they have 2009, 2010, and 2011 available this week. My number one concern is fuel mileage. I will give up power to gain fuel mileage, if that's what it takes. I heard that the DEF will allow engines to run with less EGR and that is resulting in better fuel mileage. I have recently driven a 2012 Cascadia with the DD15, and averaged 7.96 MPG over 5 months driving 48 states through the winter months. I never could have done that in my 05 Columbia with a Series 60.

It's just the new Paccar engine I am not sure about.

 

The truck I just brought back from Tulsa had about 131k on it. It was a lease truck. I'm not sure what the other truck was though.

 

I'm starting to reconsider for that very reason. I get so focused on fuel mileage that i tend to forget other things that are important to consider, like getting it paid off.

the other thing to consider is the payoff amount at the end of the lease, the least amount owed at the end , the better off you'll be
