Hey Buckeye, my wife and I drove team for many years and made extremely good money!
I see your goal to easily obtainable if you are smart about it. Personally I would recommend buying a truck if you are husband wife team and plan to stay out for long stints. Reefer would also be a better bet. More money, hotter loads and mostly drop and hook provided you find a large enough company with lots of trailers and ample freight. We drove for Central and did very well! Our mistake was taking a break for a bit and signing on with JCT. They were not able to keep a team as busy as Central did. So make sure to talk to other teams or larger companies.

Hey there, kindred spirit.
I find it ironic that the trucking lifestyle, which seems to be best suited for the single and childfree, seems heavily populated by a demographic whose members often staunchly maintain that the main purpose of life is marriage and reproduction. -
we are thinking of getting our own truck next spring -- i am not sure on the lease deal going to do a lot more study on that one seems there are a lot of bad storys out there about leasing -- companys seem to really want that too much --so whats the catch lol -- we are just playing it by ear for awhile , we are not planning on being back home till middle of august for now - she has to see the grandkids more than i do lol -- i am happy with a drive by cup of coffee -- we live right off 80/90 in ohio so we will pass by quite a bit --for me i would rather just run -- maybe a day off here and there when the opportunity comes up around someplace nice
SheepDog Thanks this. -
You are definetly thinking smart about the "leese purchase" deal... Besides, with you teaming with your wife, it won't take long, once you make a budget for it, to save up enough to pay cash out right, or a big down payment. I have been researching this buying a truck thing for 3.5 years and now, just need to pay mother in-law back for taking care of my broke butt this year than, we can save for the truck...

thats what i was thinking too -- maybe half down or something -- go brand new so you have the warranty protection -- going to need to work it out on paper and make sure its worth the risk
