I don't know what this thread is really about. Any decent person would do the right thing and give her a rid. Some of us would try to talk her out of it and some would call the cops.
Either way any decent person would try to do the right thing. -
Great question and, it has happened to many of us.
CALL THE POLICE, get the tractor # and Company name of the vehicle picking the kid up and report it to them. Better safe than sorry.
My company has a no rider policy. I had them remove the passenger seat so I could put a reefer (cooler/refrigerator) there. This reminds me not to be tempted by any cute chick or 'down on my luck' hitch-hiker.
What someone else does won't affect your future but you are fully accountable if that cute little kid screams 'rape' or accuses you of immoral behavior.
Trust no-one (including yourself)... obey the rules of common sense and look out for temptations (they are everywhere). -
UMMMM, I'm not tempted by anyone but my wife. 12 year old trying to temp me yaaaaaaa I'll give you 500 bucks to show me where your pimp is.

This is a creepy post in my eyes!! Law enforcement should be involved!!

If another driver picks up a child (providing they are infact a child) and gives them a ride without notifying the authorities is not in their right mind! Despite their best intentions, you do not give a ride to a child! Had they gotten in your truck and you gave them a ride, then what? You just drop them off where the request? Do you know what would happen to you if you were caught doing so (which is highly likely nowadays with camera's everywhere). What would you do if the little girl told the authorities you told them to get in? What would you do if that child decided to tell the authorities you did something inappropriate?
Not a good idea!
If a child asks you for a ride, you call the authorities! Yes it is easier in hindsight and is also easier for someone to give advice having not been there. This is the answer to the problem! You call the authorities! -
Just another bit of kindling for the fire...transporting a minor across state lines without permission of the custodial parent or guardian is illegal. And will get you thrown in the Grey Bar Hotel, at least for a little while.

Toss another one at y'alls. Some years back I stopped at a rest area down by Boston for a power nap in the wee hours. Got "light flashed" by the "obligatory" ###### dude and rolled into the bunk. There was a car and travel trailer parked nearby. Just started to doze when I noticed a young boy (maybe 10) step out of the trailer in his PJ's and head for the bathroom. ###### (I know, I know) was out of his car in a flash.
I hit the pavement running. F jumped back in the car and peeled out. I just about kicked the side of the trailer in and ripped a strip off the "parents" for not paying attention to the kid. That's how kids "disappear".
Didn't need the "power nap" anymore after that. -
WAY TO GO!!!!! You got a big thumbs up for that!
I wish some one looked out the the 12yr old in the op.
