Before I went with OOIDA, I booked a load with Landstar. It was also before I set up my EFAX, so I had everything faxed to a friends office. He was out of his office in business meetings all day, but he would be back to send my confirmation back around the same time I arrived at the shipper, and the broker was fine with this. I had a 325 mile deadhead to pick up the load, I worked the cost into the rate, so all was good. When I was 5 miles from the shipper, my friend called... No fax came through, so I called the broker. "Oh, my bad, that load was cancelled HOURS ago"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Since no confirmation was sent or signed, no "truck not used" order could be submitted, and it was 5:30pm, on a FRIDAY, in the middle of nowhere in PA.... Lesson learned - F*** Landstar, never again. I negotiate FANTASTIC rates without using them, so it wasnt a concern when I signed with OOIDA
Does anyone know good and cheap insurance company for trucks?

OOIDA is a 501c3 where its parent company Owner-Operator Services Inc shuffles their profits in order to beat the taxman.

OOIDA is a scam......

BigD, this is strange. You are a supporter of the insurance that OOIDA endorses or you think OOIDA is a scam?

Throwing the baby out with the bath water. You had a bad agent. Had a few of those with LS myself. But to lump the 100's of independent LS offices into what happened with one office is short sighted business practice.
It is not like we are talking about TQL that acts likes this out of policy. -
I will never support ooida which is nothing more than a for profit low rated insurance company hiding under a non profit status.

So - just what exactly in the information I provided was "wrong information"?
I pretty much stated - what YOU did.
Regardless of whether they "shuffle funds" to evade the tax man, or whether or not their insurance doesn't pass the muster of AAM - the organization DOES provide some valid services to the O/O community, does do some decent lobbying on our behalf, has filed some lawsuits (ref: fleece purchase programs, maintenance escrows) that have assisted drivers in "righting wrongs", and is probably one of the better "umbrella organizations" for information on the trade.
Would you prefer, perhaps, that we all join ATA instead?
Back to the topic - as BBB alluded to - I would rather pay for the "better rated" insurance policy (with a better chance of collecting against it, with less hassles) than the OOIDA insurance, and also not potentially "squander" the ability to obtain loads from ANYONE - rather than have LS or other shippers/brokers refuse me the business, because they don't recognize OOIDA's insurance.
Haven't heard ANYONE complain that they were "refused based on issurance", with a PROGRESSIVE policy...

I can't hit thank you enough for this post.
I went to the Website for Sentry Insurance and requested a quote. Got a call from an agent later this afternoon and WE ARE SET. They are HALF of what progressive quoted me at. The agent I am dealing with is so professional and in the two 20 minute phone calls I had with him, I learned more than in the 6 hours I bet you I have spent on the phone with progressive.

I initially subscribed to this post under the thread tools to just follow thinking that I would get some "tidbit" that might help.
THANK YOU......bullhaulerswife and kwswan Thank this. -

Entered into a contract that required 1 mill cargo ins based on a quote from Gabe, when it came time to bind the ins the bill was over double and I am in a bit of a bind. Good guy, have loved working with him for several years now, just make sure you have it in writing. I look like a fool at this point.
