My question is why ? What do you gain ? Everyone thiks I will be my own boss and be independent.
Sorry I don't see it , you are chained to that truck and its expense's and no benifits like you had when you where a company driver.
You might make more money but most of it goes to the truck payments, trk insurance, maint and repairs, fuel, plates ,permits, taxes and so on.
There have been plenty of guys on here that did the lease, but most have left to go back to a company driver somewhere else. Makes ya wonder if its worth the trouble to go l/o ???

If i did it I wouldn't do the lease purchase. Id buy my tractor from a dealer.

I was just wondering if anyone was making more money on % rather than the mileage pay with roehl is all.

Wouldn't think so. I'd suspect it's an illusion. Six of one, half-dozen of the other. Any difference in payouts, would come from Roehl's pocket, and, not believing that Roehl would want to spend money they didn't think they had to, leaves me to the logical conclusion of: Illusion.

Now that I think about it, I've probably only known 3 flatbed o/o, one went curtain, haven't seen another in a year, and the last one was prolly... two years ago.

Yeah I haven't seen any of them. I know with roehl the flatbed division is the only one where you'd get paid more for having your own trailer.

Yeah, and I spoke with an o/o at a consignee less than two weeks ago in Chicago, who started a conversation because he'd thought about taking his truck and trailer to Roehl, and was told that they couldn't guarantee that he'd keep his trailer. And, as ludicrous as that sounds to my company-driver ears, I suppose that critically, it could make sense. due to the company's poor planning.

But, it pretty much reinforces my belief that Roehl is a great company to learn what you're doing, and once you know what you're doing, you can stay for the company-culture, or the part-time fleets. Other than that, there's pretty much always greener grass elsewhere.
