There are quite a few if work history is solid, if not a solid work history much more difficult but as a fellow felon mysely job oppoutunties opened up 100 fold once i got a 1 year under my belt, the felony did not matter to much, except to the blanket policy no felony giant companies which i'd never work for anyways, I have a genral rule of thumb won't work for a company that has more then one terminal location out of the state... Work well..

I have applied and been hired at places that state they do not hire felons. I apply just like it is any other job, when it comes to the line that asks if you are felon I write in "Will discuss". When I get interviewed I tell it how it is, I don't sugar coat my past for anyone. Some places deny me flat out, that is their right as a business and it is my right as a citizen to apply for a job. I will always have to prove myself to future employers with good work ethic and hard work due to my bumpy past.
Also I have found that places that say "no felonies" often do hire felons after a certain amount of time. Other companies come right out and say they will hire a felon if the conviction is so old. You will never know with out applying. Many places that say they do not hire felons will hire felons depending on actual sentence imposed or depending on the actual crime. If you have a drug, violence or multiples it is going to be even harder. -
There are a number of carriers that will hire felons. Most want to see some time elapse with no other infractions. There are a few that won't hire felons regardless of the time since conviction. There are still those who are willing to give a felon a chance to get a fresh start. Back in the old days it was common to find a number of felons working in this industry. At that time it was more difficult to check criminal backgrounds. It is hard to hide anythiing these days. If someone is a habitual criminal they will find it difficult to get on with any carrier. Some people do have a desire to change their lives. Sometimes things happen to people and they do stupid things. I don't believe that people should be penalized for the rest of their lives for one infraction. There are some things that you can be convicted that were not even crimes only a few years ago. I would not be too judgmental when it comes to a criminal past. You don't know the circumstances. There have also been those who have been wrongly convicted or just been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Perhaps rather than putting people down for their mistakes we should be offering them a hand up. That is all some really want. They only want to get a new start and leave their past where it belongs, in the past.
aiwiron Thanks this. -
If a person has a past no one has the right to judge them, if truth be known and the way laws are today most of us have commited a crime without conviction or being caught do it.
A shame so many set on a high pedestal.bullhaulerswife and lonelyswmtrucker Thank this.
