I have come to the conclusion that all the mega carriers must have gobbled up all the freight going back into Chicago. When I was home over the holiday I realized that all I see are mega carriers delivering around town, not many smaller or independents. I have absolutely no problems finding loads out of there but play hell trying to get back to home. I can't even get a load out of St. Louis to Chicago right now (that's paying over $2 mile)
What are you guys seeing on the load boards because there doesn't seem to be squat here at LS going to where I want to. Everything is going out west or to ND/MT
Freight back to Chicago??

I called on one earlier this evening going to Chicago. It had been posted for 5 whole minutes when I called, the load was already gone lol
-
Yeah, it seems everyone wants to go there because of the good rates back out. Which I understand completely but I refuse to haul for less than $2 a mile. I wa offered a couple that would have paid me $400 to go from STL to a suburb but I didn't even see it as worth the time to do the load, I'd be better off just deadheading the 300 miles back and getting in a extra $4 mile run I guess.

Single pick-single drop regular dimension flat is $4? Going to light a fire under my car trailer in the morning.

I was told Chicago rates are down also i did a run with a guy last week thats from there he said last run out was going to houston from Chicago paid $2,200 last time i was there i was paid $3,k for that run going up is less than $2.00 a mile on the load boards this is what it looks like inbound
SHC Thanks this. -
Hey Milwaukee and madison aren't very far, that's what I do if I don't see the rates that I like
-
It would have to be wide, heavy, and probably need tarped.
-
I just came from the windy city, picked a load out of Farmington NM to Bloomington IL then Aurora IL to Savannah GA.
-
I learned where the tarp Y or N part of the order was immediately after starting in ltl some years ago. Do not miss them.
Though have had one or two ask if their cars could be tarped...?

All freight out of STL to Chitcago is cheap! It always has been and always will be. Very few times will you see a decent paying load out of there. It's just like the route from Cleveland to Chicago and back. The rates are cheap cause everyone for some reason wants to do it.
