I have all 5 axles checked at least once a year. If they need any adjusting it gets done. I'm really thinking this is more of a bad tire issue but I'm not 100% sure about that. I've got a gameplan after speaking with several different people I'll get it right one way or another.
The hits just keep on coming!!

If that's true about the inspection, then your Overqualified to be a truck driver & need to get off the road!

LOL yeah man its true, you could have knocked me over with a feather when he said it! I know my equipment is in top shape but to get the compliment from CHP was more than I expected. I dont think they were going easy that day either as there were a couple of trucks in the parking area with service trucks attending them. One looked like he was having a maxipod changed and another had all kinds of parts on the ground, so i was glad to get outa there like i did! Funny thing was the next day Nevada highway patrol pulled me over on my way to wells ( think i was around the Elko area) and said he could hear a "funny sound" coming from my trailer. I asked him what he considered "funny" to be and went back with him to look around under the trailer. There was nothing out of the ordinary yet he still said" I dont know, maybe we should inspect it". I then produced my level one CHP inspection form for him and he basicaly turned on his heels, said have a good day and let me go. So it was a good thing i had the level one as i think the Nevada guy was fishing for something to nail me for!

You got lucky sometimes when they're looking for easy money a clean inspection from the day before wouldn't matter.
-
Did you go with the gasSLX or the fleetline shocks from gabriel there rollin?
-
Ive had very good luck with CHP (of course there is always that one bad doughnut muncher). Its the CMV Enforcement guys that work at the scales that I dont get along with, not all of them are CHP. It seems like the mechanics who couldnt pass the academy can only become CMV guys and they have a "chip" (get it?) on their shoulder.

Do not listen to advise like this in its entireity. There is no reason to get an alignment done just because you put new tires on, unless there was a wear issue with the tires. Anytime any steering or suspension parts are removed or replaced you SHOULD get the truck re-aligned. Getting an alignment because you replaced shocks is foolish. Getting an alignment for the fun of it? The language I want to use to address that comment will get me the boot so I'll leave that one alone. The only other reason you should ever get an alignment done is if you notice tires starting to wear funny, get it in and have it checked before you ruin tires for no reason.bossboy2 Thanks this.

if you are noticing tire wear, it may be too late to save the tires. alignments should be part of preventative maintenance. and you should get an alignment after replacing shocks because the bushings in the shock bracket wear and the new bushings will hold the suspension at a slightly different angle. frankly i would rather have an alignment or two during the year than buy more tires than i needed to.MNdriver Thanks this.

I am TOTALLY hearing all of you. I just got a call from my boss who is o/o and was told we are done. Not the news I wanted today! I have just started in the trucking world and LOVE what I am doing only to find out I am not going to have a job. Expences and poor management blew it all out of the water.

sorry to hear that lori, but a good driver can find a job anywhere. the major mistake many o/o's make is assuming the trucking industry is one where you have to watch you dollars closely...so wrong, you have to watch your PENNIES closely. even a quarter mpg savings adds up quickly, and preventative maintenance is the cheapest way to keep on the road. too many companies and drivers are penny wise and pound foolish when it comes to maintenance.
MNdriver Thanks this.
