Sounds like you're following the career path of one of my running and gunning buds from my mispent youth, someone who got booted from BYU.
R u?
-
well, if your bud is currently 19 years old, then maybe. Otherwise, no.
I can't say I know anyone from Oregon. -
Im wondering why you quit you said your truck wasnt working they put you in a brand new one even though you as a inexperienced driver didint deserve one,,, it leaned they put you in another one .
then had bad weather stopped to be safe. thats ok
your dispatcher yelled at you did you say anything bac like hey dick the day i drive in that bad of #### you can mark that in your calander as a red letter day cuz thatl be the day hell freezez over. so go reschedule delivery
as far as abandoning the truck sounds like you did always bring it bac to where you got it.
Sounds like you get all upset way to easy if you get so stressed out at little stuff like a ######## dispacther on the phone mayb driving isnt for you.
Anyways dont post and hide please give an update.
So we can discuss your situation some more. -
From my understanding, it really went downhill when the kids took over, so when you started driving, it might not have been as bad as it is now.
I don't see why companies play dirty, or shortchange a person. It comes back to bite them in the butt sooner or later. I mean like with Central, if you deliver the load on time, you get $15.....but let's say you get shot a load over Qualcomm, do the whole nine yards, get it there on time, then pay day comes and wow, you are out $15 because the load was already late, even though you didn't know that because the times on your Qualcomm didn't say so. So you call in to your DM/FM what ever they want to be called, and they give you the run around, and never get back to you, so then you take it to payroll, and once again you have to deal with it, and if you are lucky, you get your $15, then next payday rolls around and you have to start all over again.
Same with mileage, it books says if it is more than 10% difference from trip miles to miles rolled, call in and inform someone. I've had long rolls with well over 15% difference. That could be anywhere from 150 to 300 miles. It's hard to plan a trip out right when you get shorted that many miles. -
Wow. 15 bucks to do your job.
If I were there and I got gipped out of my 15 whole dollars, I'd throw a ##### fit and quit on the spot. That'd show 'em. I'd then be out of work for a couple of weeks, but hey, I have my pride, right? I don't like my nose sometimes, anyway. I think I'll cut it off.
Jesus. 15 bucks. Quit worrying about 15 bucks, people. Don't get pissed off over it. You'll be quitting over it sooner or later and costing yourself a lot more.StormDancer Thanks this. -
Yeap I would say the same thing. If I was your dispatcher and you spoke to me like that, I would probably do the same thing to you.

I disagree with this statement. I know drivers that let this kind of stuff slide until I show them just how much money you can make in a year after you add up all the money trucking companies try to get out of paying you if you don't "worry" about it.
If a company says they are going to pay you x for this and that, then they should.
My friend who drives Cal regional was given a load for time off which he was told to drive 150miles past his house drop and then bobtail back home. Then when time off is over they wanted him to drive back to the yard and take the load to del. The 300 miles of bobtail was unpaid miles until I convinced him to stand up for himself and not let them screw him over, like they did the last time when they pulled the same stunt.
Many of these OTR companies will not pay you what they say they will in their own handbooks unless you pretty much threaten to shut their load down or turn in the truck. $15 dollars is not much, but that is not the point. Tell the power company after you short them $15 because the trucking company shorted you and you will be reading in the dark.
You should be payed what you are owed . Give these companies a long leash and they will be dragging you around the park.

Bigblue19 is dead on. A deal is a deal. If all the spineless drivers out there took a hard stand and demanded what they were promised there might no longer be any need for forums like this. At least for griping anyway. These companies are just going to keep pushing the limit as far as they can to see what they can get away with. Grow a set and demand what you are owed!

If this behavior became the norm, you'd better believe I'd get in somebody's face. I just wouldn't let a one-time 15-dollar jip piss me off. These little things can add up, and you may quit over some minor nonsense if you let it all get to you.
'Sides...if you guys want to talk about a REAL jip, you should be pitching a ##### fit over the map miles scheme. Big companies love Rand McNally, boy. They'll take an 8% cut of your miles right off the top, although they have Q-Comm units and know exactly what you've driven, and the path you took, after any run.
