Hey everyone, I'm just south of Jacksonville. To make a long story short, I got empty by 9am Monday, called Louie to make sure he wanted me to come back to the yard with the new reefer I had then was told to see him after lunch. My trip back east from California was very uneventful. I left Bakersfield at 11:30 Pittston time and made it to Milan NM for my 10 hour break. I got up early Friday morning, took a shower then made it to OKC for my next break. My trip back was planned so I could watch the NBA playoffs every night. I love when a plan comes to fruition, I got to see the Miami Heat play all there games on my computer every game.

I woke up Saturday morning and made it to Clayton In for my next break. I was only grossing 64,000lbs so I was getting good fuel mileage and was able to fuel up just 3 times coming back, Kingman Az, OKC Ok, and Clayton In. I woke up Sunday morning with 595 miles to go. I got to Milton Pa to the truck stop at 7:30pm and woke up at 5am to drive the 6 miles to the customer. I always enjoy delivering here on Mondays, there was 5 other trucks of our's there and we all were backed in getting our California produce unloaded.

After leaving I decided to stop at the truck stop for breakfast, on my way there I turned my CB on and heard a little pop then it went blank. I thought maybe I blew a fuse. Not the case, after some fuse changing, a little cussing, I decided to bring it in to the CB shop there. I figured that after 3 years of bumps and bruises my General Lee took a dump. All it was was a final burnt out. a half hour later, after a new final, a bench check and a peak and tune I was $50 lighter in my wallet but now was able to carry on as usual.

I got to the yard, dropped my trailer, handed my paperwork in and then my phone rang. It was Louie asking me when I would have hours back. I told him I had enough to get to Florida so he told me to come up to dispatch. I was given a load that was loaded at our customer in Lewisburg going to Miami, for Saturday. He told me to bobtail over and get the trailer. I've hauled many of these loads all over the country so I knew that there was no way to deliver it early as everything about this is based on volunteers. Not a problem for me. I never refuse extra time off at the house. Louie did say that I would have to reload next Monday and that I would be going out west again. My wife will take a ride with me to unload, along with my 3 1/2 year old grandson. This should be comical.

That's about it, I'll be home around 9am in the morning, time to watch the Heat. Here's a picture of my truck and trailer at our customer leaving for California

Pretty nice gig John. 8,000 plus miles in 16 days, now 5 days at home. Can't beat it. All this and you live in Fla, lol. I spent 20 years in Fla and couldn't find anything close to what you have here at Calex. Good for you.

Hey Roadcall, did u start here yet? Oy I totally screwed myself on miles this week, I coulda had a 3 stop load to Miami but last drop wasn't till today at 10am and my wife said I had to b home by Fri night. So I had to turn down that one cause it takes a full 2 days to get home from Miami. Instead I got a shorter load to MI for Playworld so that didn't get unloaded till yesterday. Now to those who ask why I listened to my wife, to b fair I wasn't home last weekend.

I am home. After being gone for 2 weeks it feels good to be home. I got home yesterday at 9am. Being gone this long made that honey do list even bigger. I deliver on Saturday morning and will be back at the house by noon. I called into dispatch to let Jason know I need to do something first thing Monday morning. He told me that I would be loading late in the day Monday which will give me time to take care of my business.

I'll say it again, it ain't perfect, but it works good for me. I still enjoy working here with everyone. I just looked over my paperwork, it was 3 years ago today I answered the ad on craigslist for this job. They aren't kidding when they same time fly's when you are having fun.

Hey cowman, no I havent started yet. I have some unexpected dental issues to resolve. I had a root canal done today and another next Wednesday. Thank god for pain killers, my mouth is sore!!! I hate the dentist. Anyway, I am scheduled for orientation 2 weeks from today, on Thursday the 21st. Not sure why its on a Thursday but since it is only one day, guess it doesnt matter. Cant wait to get to work, but im glad im not in a truck dealing with this pain. Amazing how much pain something so small can cause.

JohnBoy I hear you on not being perfect but I dont believe any job is. Sure sounds like the good far outweighs the bad, thats all you can ask for. Thanks to you, Calex will soon be my new home too!
