Carrying firearms in a truck

Criminals break the LAW. That's why they are CRIMINALS. Outlawing handguns (except by police) will do NOTHING except insure that the Honest Law-Abiding citizen is unarmed and helpless. The CRIMINAL (keyword) will find a market and a supply for illegal guns.
To say that VT wouldn't have happened if handguns were illegal is as irresponsible a statement to make as anyone can.
The ONLY thing that might have prevented VT is if students were ALLOWED to carry. A criminal is less likely to attack a target that might defend itself. Statistically; handguns are used for protection MORE TIMES than they are used in a crime. Statistically; states with liberal handgun and carry laws have seen their violent crime rates dramatically cut. Statistically, cities with few "gun-control" laws have lower crime rates as well.
People are allowed in most states to protect themselves in PUBLIC as well as in PRIVATE Property. Believe it or not: whether you are driving in a car, a company truck or standing in line at the nearest 7-11 store, you ARE on private property.

 

A sign saying "No Guns Allowed" isn't a "law". In fact, the ONLY crime you could be charged with is trespassing...IF YOU REFUSE to leave.

 

and lose your job for violating company policy of no guns in the cab.... sigh

 

People may be allowed to protect themselves on their private property, but you are responsible for injuries on the person that is harmed. Consider that if your dog were to bite a burgular or thief causing severe injury, you are responsible for the medical bills. This was explained to me by the state's attorney, police dept, and my insurance company. The only recourse is to prosecute for trespassing.

Protecting yourself in public would also be exposing yourself to liability problems. The injury that is inflicted could lead to assault with deadly weapons charges.

You are not really on private property in a company truck. You are considered to be on company property. Therefore you must adhere to company rules.

Possession of weapons on private property such as 7-11 can also lead to charges against you by the store owners.

Your stance of private property is going along very gray areas. These would be putting oneself into awkward positions.

I have no objection to firearms possessions, but I do question some people having the weapons on trucks with the immaturity that abounds in the industry.

 

Yeah those "GUN FREE ZONES" really worked at Virginia Tech!!! So did the "Police Only Have Guns" idea. The cops at Virginia Tech were running around like the keystone cops, trying to figure out what, where, and who, standing outside behind brick walls with their guns drawn, waiting for the shooting to stop, and trying to figure out what was going on. Well, so much for that. Same thing at Columbine. But think about the Vice Principal at Pearl High School in Mississippi. A student started shooting up the place, and the Principal went to his truck, got his 45 and took the little darlin' down at gunpoint, telling him, "Son, I'll Kill you if you don't drop the gun." He then held him for the Police (who were not there yet). I guess the biased News Media must have missed that one. Big Gansta Bad*sses seem to give up or run away when they meet armed resistance from someone with the same ability to kill them. So don't give me the tired old cr*p about if only the Police had guns. There's a great book out there called "Dial 911, And DIE!!!" NEXT: Studies have shown that people with CCW permits are the least likely people to yank out their Roscoe and start pulling the trigger. In fact most CCW permit holders tend to try to walk away from something instead of being too aggressive. They are the ones who are printed, photoed, background checked, mentally checked, tattooed and spanked. They are not the ones you have to worry about.
Also, don't confuse criminal activity and mentality, with that of Law Abiding Gun Owners. Because a person has a gun doesn't mean he will suddenly go berzerk, and shoot somebody or something because he's p*ssed off. I find people who think like this, know absolutely nothing about guns, and usually fear them. The average gun owner is a responsible person who thinks twice before pulling a gun and will usually avoid the chance to shoot someone. I don't know why some people can't get that point. Millions and Millions of guns in the hands of Millions of people, but less than 1/100th of 1% of guns are actually involved in a crime. Criminals don't care about the law. If they're robbing a store, do you seriously think their worried about breaking one of the gun laws? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LAST: Just read a Dept of Justice report about how England has a complete ban on ALL HANDGUNS and almost ALL LONG GUNS, except for those kept at hunting clubs. England Gun Crimes have skyrocketed and the Government just can't seem to figure out how to solve the problem. Criminals are killing Innocent UNARMED victims and home invasions are the new crime of choice because they know people are not armed. So what does the Government do? They just passed even stricter gun laws. Yeah, that ought to do it, you government morons!!!

Its sad to think some people feel as though they cannot go out in society without adding to the possiblity physical endangerment of our fellow man.

First of all, I would hate to have your States Attorney, Police, and Insurance, because if they were stupid enough to tell you some garbage like that, YOUR SCREWED!!! I guess things are pretty bad in Illinois if thats the way they cheat their citizens out of their rights to protect themselves. Let's see.... A burglar breaks in my house, my dog bites him, and I'M RESPONSIBLE for his injuries? I can protect myself on my Private Property, but when I go in Public, I'm not allowed too? He breaks in my house, and I should go down and file charges for tresspassing? You expose yourself to liability if you protect yourself in public? Dude, What do you people do in Illinois? Stay home and never leave the D*mn House?
I think if I were you, I'd get some advice from a sane person who knows about the LAW and SELF PROTECTION. Not some lame-brain bureaucrat who's giving you a line so you don't quote him on the subject. Every state I know has use of force laws that allow anyone to protect themselves anywhere from attack. Especially the home. Most states, except Illinois, have CCW permits that allow you to carry anywhere except designated areas like a court house, airport or school.
I can't believe someone in that capacity would tell you such garbage. I can see if a salesman or mailman gets bitten by your dog, but not a burglar. The coneheads you talked to, need a good talking to. They're telling you that basically, if someone attacks you, you have to just stand there and take it, or YOU are responsible? SHEESH!!!

 

remember if you catch a burglar breaking into your house wait till he is in your house to shoot him. other wise it could be argued he was not trying to rob you. as far as the left wing liberals, they think that the criminals deserve more rights than I do in my own home. (just an observation, look at TX you shoot some one in your home the cops help clean up the blood off the floor and give you a medal, lol) some states (i think MO is like this) will send the case to a grand jury which should come back with out an inditement. and rodney king was running from the cops.

 

Move to Florida we're a Right To Shoot First State. If at any time you feel your life is in danger from another individual you have the right to shoot their rearend even if they haven't brandished a weapon, a threat is enough. Been that way for 2 years.
