i posted earlier on how for 6 weeks Caroll fulmer trucking had not paid me (at all) id like to post this to explain why the payroll problems sealed the deal for me as far as parking their truck. My first load (after i had come home and equipped my truck was from garner NC to Barnwell SC .once i was loaded i was instructed to take it to kronotex (in barnwell) and drop it and bobtail out . My next load was also out of kronotex scheduled at 15:00 the next day. at 08:00 (the next day) i messaged my Fleet manager to see if i could go in early since the message stated possible drop and hook, he said call the shipper and check. so i called 4 times throughout the morning always getting voicemail, i went in at 13:00 thinking maybe id save a couple of hours anyway if it was preloaded. when i got to the window, they asked for my trailer number, which ofcourse i replied i was told to bobtail out the day before, they told me no trailer, no load, they did no preloads, (this facility is about 5 miles from the fulmer barnwell yard) so i message my manager and all of a sudden he knows nothing about telling me to drop the trailer,he tells me to come to the yard and get an empty, i go to the yard, there are no empties, im forced to drive to a shop where some of their kinfolks have repaired a trailer and get that one. by the time all this happens and i get back to kronotex its 15:15 so im signed in as late and pushed to the back of the line, after this every load i was assigned had a time i could not make, theyed send the preplan, id say you know im behind i cant make it, theyed say get there when ya can,id get there late and i averaged 3 to 4 hours at the dock each stop, finally the week was ending so i was told to come by the yard and get a load headed for hampton va and to have it there monday morning after my break, i get there about 17:00 friday afternoon, theres a car in front of the office, while im dropping and hooking the car leaves, i hook up, check things out and find theres no paper work, i walk up to the office, locked up tight, i call. noone answers (remember this is 17:00,so i call dispatch in florida, they say take the load and theyll fax the paper work monday. Monday comes i wait an hour for them to find paper work and fax it.when they send my next load im already late for pickup, i message back i cant make it, they say get there when ya can, sooooo another week just like the previous, always late, always pushed back, always sitting at the dock, so put no pay on top of that i parked!
follow up on Caroll Fulmer

Was it worth the abandonment they will throw on your dac?
Shaggy76 and Rollover the Original Thank this. -
Dude, I personally would have turned the truck in, took pics of said truck that it was on their property along with pics of condition, then followed with a letter to pay or be reported to Wage and Hour, the labor division in Florida that oversees payroll issues. Then I would have reported them after the five day wait per my demand letter. At least then, I can still work, get interest on the non payment of my checks, and let them scramble for the answers. Instead you abandoned a truck, essentially ruining your career... If your story is legit, you did it wrong. Lesson learned and hopefully it won't happen again. Good luck on finding another trucking job with that abandonment. Let me know which McDonalds you'll be at in 6 months so we all can stop by and swap trucker stories.
Rollover the Original Thanks this. -
Always return the truck to the company you are quitting, if you go off and tell them to "come get yer ##### truck!", it is abandonment, and it WILL show up on your DAC. I can pretty much guarantee if you have that on your record, you will NEVER be hired at another company unless its some POS. Outlaw outfit that will make you run 5-6 logbooks, and the truck will have so many things wrong with it that the DOT will have it hauled to the junkyard.
Just sayin'.Shaggy76 and Rollover the Original Thank this. -
I parked a company truck in the big Fontana Drop Yard and told them where to find it. Never put a thing on my DAC because they knew I had so much on them and the documentation to prove it, that they just let me be.
Shaggy76 and fancypants Thank this. -
Difference is you parked it at a company location. And whatever you had on them didn't scare them in any way. Companies are used to that stuff.
Shaggy76 Thanks this. -
