A religious zealot will state what his church states as facts. Science can be explained away. Facts presented that contradict what they believe are lies. They will often contradict their own beliefs and seem to never accept that this contradiction exists. They will use partial facts to prove a point and when presented with the complete truth will ignore it and move onto something else.
But what they will never do is admit they are wrong. This would open up the thought that the teachings of the their church may not be 100% accurate. And if wrong on one item what else may they be wrong about. That would be tantamount to having the earth open up under their feet.
Once you understand you are dealing with a zealot, it is best to stop trying to have a conversation. It is pointless (I may have also described a conversation with a teenager).

I've just recently ran as a Bco for LS for a month before the realized they shouldn't have qualified me. For my one month at LS, I pretty much ran from Atlanta to Dallas .. from Dallas to Houston ..deadhead to lake Charles,La to go back to Atlanta ..that was about 1900 miles with only about 150 of those miles were empty..and I was averaging 1.81 on all miles..bringing home a 2000$ check after my weekly deductions and only worked 4 days for that week..so it's not a bad deal if you ask me.

But in terms of rates you are open deck. That is a different world there. If you are in the right area LS and Mercer are the best thing going, in my opinion.SHC Thanks this. -
Did they cancel you lease? -
I am not aware of us having worked with Kaplan. How are they? -

if their freight is paying 2.75 gross and you net 65% that's cool
if it's paying 2.00 not so cool ...
But if you know your Cost Per Mile ( CPM ) you know what you can haul for and make profit .. Everyone's business is different so many variables .. To considerjjranch Thanks this. -
Yes they cancelled my lease and I was pulling a company van. So after getting descent rates like that, it's hard for me to just settle for a buck a mile plus FSC...so I'm looking into going to Texas or north Dakota in the oilfield..

The "percentage of revenue" - when you add it up - is it LESS than the $$ & time spent in other compliance activities (and I understand, the amount of time in compliance is important, as time = $$), were you an MC, and free to pursue ALL available freight in the market?
I'm not knocking it now - I know a number of folks (not on this board) that have a blue star on their truck, and they seem quite happy with their arrangement. I pretty much understand what the FRONT END looks like - just trying, with some difficulty, to understand what VALUE LS gives on the BACK END.
It's OK - please, no need to explain it further though.
Best wishes with whomever you roll for...
Rick
