Btw also a good idea to ground your radio to the chassis

    Pmracing Thanks this.

The coil on Wilsons antennas like to be above the vehicle. Not beside it.

For that I would have to add a 36" shaft!!!

The coil being below the roofline won't affect your swr but it will affect your ability to receive and transmit

    That is my main issue.

I found that wilson does have a 24' shaft.... I will have to see how high that makes the total height!

    It is only about $19

I have the same mount.I'm thinking of changing it to a standard mount. I have a wilson 5000 with a bad match and I looked at that match and said "I'll cut off about 1 1/2 " and bring that match down to where its supposed to be ,well guess what? It's now worse. I had another wilson 5000 on the same truck, same mirror, perfect match. Because the antenna broke off I purchased the bigger stud to rid myself of that problem and it is worse. So,I think I will go back to the other stud.

If I get a longer stud to try and get the coil and whip above the echo zone of the mirror and door, will i most likely have to cut a good amount off the whip?
