How are those autoshifts in crappy weather? Way way back when I was on the oil truck they had those. I think I remember sliding around alot and brakes wearing out.

No problem with the auto shifts in foul weather. The problems have pretty much been ironed out. Once in a while the truck may beep at you if you try to switch from forward to reverse too quickly. It takes a little time getting used to letting the truck shift gears for you but it definitely grows on you over time. Less leg fatigue at the end of the day. It may take a little longer to get up to speed than shifting a manual does but tt never grinds gears or misses a gear.

If you decide to join up be sure to post your adventures (good or bad).

Trust me, this co is full of unfulfilled promises. The get you in there with the promise of a decent pay check----which you actually earn for a few weeks---then "WHAMMO" without warning or announcement, reduce the pay. How do you find out? By looking at your paycheck and noticing you got SLAMMED! Not even kidding! Their dispatchers are the worst ever! Seems that secretarial skills are all you need to be a dispatcher and rudeness and laziness are the qualifications. Trust me, steer clear of this co. Every driver you talk to tells the same story. You'd think the co would wise up and replace their dispatchers with ones who have actually driven a truck before---or know how to read a map---or know how to answer a phone----(I think you get the picture!)

It's really not THAT bad. The only problems I've had are related to the whole NEMF connection with regard to getting stuff fixed and they are aware that its a problem for them. Nobody there has ever lied to me or misled me and that means alot.

One of the problems with the company is the maintenance performed at NEMF yards. Lately we have been using the Pennsauken shop for most of our repairs and the service is "lacking." The past 2 services I have had done there have been a waste of time. The write ups were not addressed and I had to put the truck in an outside shop to get write ups taken care of properly. Fortunately Eastern management is aware of this problem and will authorize repairs off site when necessary.
The key to success at any carrier seems to be communication. Communicate with Eastern management and things will go much smoother.

I have had similar problems. The guys at the Pennsauken terminal were actually the ones who finally straightened everything out with my truck. I will NEVER go to the Montgomery terminal again for any reason.
The mechanic in Scarborough, where I run out of, is a good guy and has done everything he can to keep me going, but he,as well as all the rest of the NEMF mechanics, is working on an assembly line of old trucks. I can see the fear in there eyes when I show up at a terminal.
On the bright side, the pay is great, the people I deal with have been good to me, hometime is consistent, Nd i plan on sticking it out.
