It's not only newbies who don't have the cash that would rather start with Schneider even though it's paying less (on the thinnest of surface, and overall not specifically, and if you're not counting the number of hours you give of your life to get the additional cash).

It's also guys who have skills using an excel spreadsheet, and some idea about how to line up costs and benefits on a balance sheet, who understand opportunity costs, who can do risk analysis, identify and account for associated expenses in two or more scenarios, do comparisons and long term planning.

It's also true there's guys who like to ride bulls, or fight in foreign wars just for the money too.
Sure, it might make 'em seem brave, it don't make 'em smart.

"OK we get it Oil Field drivers can make much more than what SNI is paying but for most of us who have zero to minimal experience SNI is one of our few options, most of us cannot AFFORD to go out to TX, OK, ND and knock on doors and hope that somebody is willing to give us a chance. This is our way to walk through the door and get our feet wet give us a couple of years and we will be up there making $80k+. Take my word!"

Glad that someone agrees with me :yes2557:

I meet a lof of drivers working on this crude hauling account who made a lot more money in their previous job than here. One driver owned his own business for 17 years and claims he made over $150K a year from that, but he sold it and now does this. For him this job is a stepping stone for the next phase in his life. Met a driver who worked as a medical technician for over 20 years. Another driver I met use to run a marketing department for a major corporation. I've met a lot of former owner operators on this account too. The common theme I hear is that this job was not something any of these people ever planned on doing, the downturn in the economy made it necessary for them to make a change in their lives. Some here on this account seem satisfied with staying. There are others who plan to put in a year then jump ship for another company. The pay may not be the best but if you factor in the training and experience being provided by Schneider to those who have very little of it, then I would say there has to be a lot of value in that for the newbie.

I tell you this not to brag, but to inspire. I am putting over $ 7,000.00/month into savings. Every dollar is assigned a destination. I live on less than $ 1,000.00/month. ("Always have a plan for your money" - Dave Ramsey)

Love Dave Ramsey! Trying to get the baby steps done so I can be "better than I deserve" :biggrin_25519: Driving will help me reach that goal a whole lot faster than what I'm doing now....

I talked to Snyder. They want me to be a regional drive for 6 months before I can move over to the gas and oil division with Schumbleshe (spelling). But how can I be sure they will be hiring in 6 months. I need something now!!!! Im a new grad, clean as a whistle as MVR and Drug screen with one month experience with a small town guy doing tractor trailer dump.
