Must be time for their yearly shake up in the Olathe office. That is just what husband says .....he is only as good as his dispatch and the' imformation he is given. That is what is getting to him, he works hard to do the best job possible but he's not being allowed to do his job. I think some of the shippers and receivers are tired of it also. Husband drove all night and was on time to pick up load, was told he had the wrong numbers. Took him an hour and a half to get the right numbers from Transam, then shipper gets mad because of the delay and tells him he is late for pickup.

Jackof,
No updates,
it's been some time ?????? -
I am going to orientation on the 25th are you a person that lease. I here so much bad things about the lease program is it worth it and how many miles do the company drivers get a week how much do you bring home and do they have a weight station pass. Also do they tell you what route to go. do they have paper logs
-
There are more lease operators for TA than company drivers for sure. Lease ops get to follow their on routes if they choose,Company must follow route solutions. I am a company driver and have no problem with this. I currently average 2200-2400 miles a week. sometimes more or less depending on delivery times and Thursday midnight. You will have a device in your truck that lets you bypass weigh stations if you get a green light, Red and you got to stop. Also it will let you pass through tolls booths. TA has gone to e-logs since April. I would go company for a while till you learn the trucking business before you go lease. It will sound like you are going to make a ton of money.Maybe or maybe not. You will have to decide for yourself.

FYI, that device is called a prepass for scales, EZPass for tolls.

I leased with TransAm for 5 months. My DM lied to me on a regular basis about miles and loads and delivery times and anything else he could. My miles dropped to the point that I was owing them money and had no way to catch up. Leasing said they couldn't do anything about it because dispatch was a different part of the company...yet they say if you're having problems to call them and they'll help. Do not lease until you've had a chance to check out the industry and the company. But be prepared for disappointment when you go to test out. If you want to go company they'll tell you they don't have a truck for you and send you home...without pay...until you decide to lease. Be careful.
123456 and bullhaulerswife Thank this. -
be careful who you believe on here also.Lifeboat might have had those experiences I have not. 4 people went company when i tested out they all got trucks on Friday. They didn't have enough trucks for the 9 of us going lease so I sat in the motel till tuesday for my T700 paid by the company
Miles come miles go i got 2200 miles this week with 3 days hometime. Like anyone else driving I am not always happy but find any company where every driver is happy
Very few drivers will ever blame themselves for failures they could have controlled -
The leasing department will tell you that there are three things that will kill your income...fuel mileage, hometime and miles driven. My average MPG was 8.6, and I frequently got ever 15mpg...they have a picture of my instrument cluster in the Rockwall training department, ask Jay...In 5 months of leasing I spent a TOTAL of 8 days at home...so the things I could control were very much under control. But my miles per week steadily dropped from 4200 to 1600. I called and begged for more loads and more miles and got nothing. I sat for 4 days in Orlando for instance because there was supposedly no freight. Orlando. Coca Cola/Tropicana ship orange juice out of there 100 loads PER DAY. Me and 8 other TransAM trucks SAT THERE for several days waiting for a load. I had to deadhead to Marianna for a load after 4 days of complaining. I'm not saying TransAm as A whole is a bad company. I'm saying that if the company controls your freight AND you lease from them, then their only vested interest is in giving you enough freight to pay the payment on the truck for them. More miles than that are just icing on the cake. But on COMPANY trucks, they need those run as much as possible to keep the unit profitable because ALL of the overhead and operating costs come out of THEIR income, not yours. Factor together truck payment, insurance policies(bobtail, liability, worker's compensation, health), maintenance, FUEL costs, etc. on top of payroll and that truck needs more miles to be profitable, and therefore the driver will drive more miles. As a lease operator ALL of those costs come out of YOUR income before you see a penny, which means even a small goof like missing a fuel stop or an interchange between highways and having to burn fuel to make up for it come out of YOUR pocket.

Deleted. I misread the post.

no 700 with a paccar engine gets that mileage. Anyone can take a picture of the mileage setting just after they reset counter to zero. I have never seen over 9 mpg empty after running 100 miles.
Anytime I have sat not dispatched I have put in for lost utilazation and recieved it 2 out of 3 times.I have been here only since 3/8 but 8 checks have been over $1000
I had to pick up a disgusting 2010 red 660 during training maybe it was yours. Whoever drove that truck was a pig i am glad doesn't represent Trans am to the public
