I work in a hospital now (I just earned my CDL). I don't think the number of errors are rising. But, hospitals have better systems to collect data on errors. Med errors are unfortunately going to happen, we do a better job of catching and reporting it now. With the newer computer systems now days I think med errors will go down as well.

This is no surprise. There have been many doctors and hospitals investigated for their billing practices. Recently a doctor and her husband were indicted for major medicare fraud.

this kind of thing is a good reason to request a detailed bill from the hospital. We did for my daughter's birth and found that they had billed us for things that we didn't use. We contested and they are now reviewing the bill, hopefully they drop the cost significantly.
