I think it ranges up to $5-6K. And the upset poster isn't too far off. They'll get you ready for the road test which is really the goal. Have thick skin because some of the instructors can't teach worth a piss, they'll just yell at you like you're an idiot for not knowing how to drive. It didn't get to me because they didn't yell at me but a couple of the guys in my truck were getting pissed and I kept thinking that they're paying the instructor's salary. The first week you sit in a classroom while an instructor reads the CDL exam book out loud to you and highlights key points. On weeks 2-4, you'll spend most of your time watching other people drive so don't expect a lot of road time...maybe 40-60 minutes of road driving per day. The downshifting they taught almost caused me to fail a driving exam with the first company I went to work for, but in the end I got a CDL out of it so I guess it worked.

I was going to start at Roadmaster in Tampa last month unfortunately the transmission on my car went out 3 days prior. When I called my recruiter to explain I couldn't make it the week scheduled cause I had to use my down payment money to fix my car as im currently unemployed. He basically went off on me telling me I needed to get my life together and I was waisting his time. I'm kinda glad this happend as it showed their true colors before I got there they also had made no attempt to get my financing confirmed I was told I would meet with the finance lady the first day but financing was not guaranteed. The cost for their 3 week course was $6500

I have now signed up with NATIONAL TRAINING INC over in Jacksonville. Already finished my home study and heading to driver training in a week can't wait to get behind the wheel.
