Listen to Diesel Dave, he gives good advice. I did bottom dumps for years in S.Ca. feeding plants with aggregates, working alongside powder trains. My boss loved powder, don't know why, powder does not pay, long hours. Fuel or powder ? neither. Good luck.

How does bottom dumps pay in regards to powder? Better or worse? Talked to the guy doing the hiring at Double Eagle he said full time drivers make between $700-$1000 and 5-6 days a week. Any opinions on transfer dumps? Are they better paying? Thanks Guys!

Look I currently work for Double Eagle in Hesperia,Ca. I have only been here a year but as far as powder train Co. go these guys are really great to work for. I left CRST to work for DE. The hours are long but Im told thats parr for all powder train work. All the guys from Dispatch to the shop are really great people. Pay is by load as well as weight . We drive local and out of state, what ever the job requites. Double Eagle is a 24/7 making deliveries round the clock to satisfy the needs of the customer. I think we are one of the only carriers that run day as well as night.

How far out does Double Eagle go ? Vegas ? Needles ? Bakersfield ?
-
They go as high as Wash. and as far as Va. we have a serious reach.

I drove for double eagle. good company, but you get paid by the load so when you first start there you aren't going to be getting paid that much because they go by who's been there the longest when they give out the loads. Also you won't get any benefits for at least 9 months and that is only when a permanent worker quits. You will be a part time worker with them for a long time before you are permanent. other than that, they are a good company. Classy people. I enjoyed working for them. Oh yeah, theres not alot of work during the winter months.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but I didn't so many of my "neighbors" up here in the High Desert were on this board. And yes, to whoever was amazed by the cameras in the gas trucks, you better believe it! I work for a major oil company down "The Hill", we've had them in our trucks for a few years now. Fun. 9-11 opened the floodgates for these companies to spy on their employees under the the umbrella of "security". Yeah right. Anyway, Hi from a new guy to the boards from the Hi Dez......Be safe out there.
