I did get a call from a team coordinator asking for my preferences...again. I won't hold my breath there though. If I go back to teams I will be extremely picky this time. -
I plan to be in orientation in a week at Tunnel Hill depending if the
Hard copy of the CDL wil arrive in time. Wonder if any DDS offices can print
the hard copy on the spot? I don't want to get delayed due to the 4 th of July. -

I really really really hate every single rail yard!!!! ****!
-
I made it to Lebanon, IN early this evening and as I pulled into the place I got a PP for a 600 mile run (loading an hour earlier) that's only 25 miles away with a D&H anytime on the other end.
Well wouldn't you know it, the guy who beat me to the shipper this morning pulled the last empty out just before I got there. You know the rest, wait...wait some more...go to the drop lot in Indy to make sure there aren't any trailers there and watch your 14 slip away again. A mere 4 hours after I delivered (and 20 minutes before I'm out of time) they manage to locate one that's only 81 miles away. Yippee!
Let's hope its still there in the morning...oh yeah, and hope they rescheduled the pickup... -

The bad part was getting there. I decided to go up 51. All of a sudden the road is closed. No warning at all, just some cones going across the road. Had to pull into a gas station and back up and turn around. Of course there was a bunch of four wheelers acting like they didn't see the big truck backing up in the parking lot. I managed to double back a bit and take another way. Map reading is an essential part of this job. -
Rail yards are the worst. The best one is out in Stockton, CA. You don't have to deal with any people there. -
That's good, I managed to go by them both and had to follow that skinny road for about 10 miles to get back on the highway and come back and try again. I don't know what it is, but the directions they have to get to some of these places are like hieroglyphs to me. I frequently write new directions in English and send them in, but I don't know if they ever make it into the system.
Here's a good one, I got some directions to a place in Illinois a couple weeks ago and I couldn't tell what in the hell they were talking about, after several minutes of trying to figure it out, I realized the directions where coming all the way from Tunnel Hill. WHY?!?
So far today, I've drove the 80 miles to get my empty trailer and there's none here. Six loaded ones, but no empties. The people here say they aren't running the product on them today, otherwise they would unload one for me.
Back in a holding pattern...
