Every trucking company should keep a good reputation. If the company knows how to respect and treat its drivers like human beings, that trucking company Will be respected and drivers will enjoy working for the company.

With every accident there is a paper trail. If you were on E-Logs, ask the Safety Administrator for copies of your Logs for those days and, request a copy of the accident reports. That should pretty much end the conversation.

CondoCruiser Thanks this.

Yep TN Truckers is right. A simple online dispute would take care of that. Make sure you get a copy first. Both are on the same page.

The older post for the record it's illegal to take unauthorized deductions out of ones paycheck without the drivers written consent. It's also illegal for a company to coerce a driver into signing such an agreement after the fact. One needs to file a complaint with their state dept of labor if they are taking your paychecks. This is one labor law we aren't exempt from.
This is a civil matter and has to go through a court system if they want you to pay for an accident. Just like the rest of the world they can't play judge and jury. Many times companies will drag you in a back room and get you to sign a promissory note or get fired. Illegal! Or take your last check. Illegal! Stand up for your rights. They can fire you, but they can't steal your earnings.
Now if you sign an agreement in orientation when you hire in, there is nothing you can do but suck it up. A smart company would do that rather than take the wrong avenue of a thug. It's easier now than ever to file wage complaints online.
There's a thread floating around somewhere on this topic. Many small outfits strongly disagree but the law is the law. I do agree the negligent party should be held accountable. But do it the right way and make the driver sign an agreement when they hire in. Not wait until something happens. If the company doesn't do that then they are negligent for not protecting themselves.
