Hope someone did a credit check. That kind of arrangement (drivers signing broker contracts, bypassing normal office procedure) can turn out bad.

I'm trying to run this truck as professionally as I can, but some of these agents make it very hard to do sometimes. In the end tho, it all seems to work itself out.

I have been guilty of this. Luckily I have not been burned. But sometimes if it is a time sensitive Situation I have been known to start rolling towards the pickup, as my wife gets them the carrier packet and whatnot. I am sure one day I will get burned. With my produce loads those are set as well as my chicken loads. Usually an agreement over the phone along with the pick up info is good enough for me. Then the broker faxes everything within the hour or two. It is what it is. Sorry to hear about your situation though.

Not sure about the portable one, but I use the bigger automatic feeder in my office and it kicks butt. One of these days when I have an extra $200 burning a hole in my pocket, I might buy the portable to see how that works out.

Nice work. Sometimes things fall into place once in a row. LOL.

Funny, about the time you were doing all this, my wife and I were hanging out at LAX waiting on her sister's broom to land so we could freeload on her rental car over to Santa Barbara for a family thing. Small world.

Yeah, I was loaded and out of town by 10:30am and made it all the way into AZ before a truck that had ran off the road and burned up closed the interstate for 3 hours. Oh well.....the brush caught fire and it a got bit too close for my liking but I couldn't go anywhere.

I think we just have to roll with the punches sometimes. I had a partial load booked, rate confirmation and all last week. I was just getting ready to go get it and got a call that their was a problem with the computer (on a tractor) and it wouldn't be ready for pickup for two days. Part of me wants to believe the broker was being straight up with me, things like that happen. But it could very well be he had someone else pick it up for a cheaper rate. I definitely couldn't wait, I had two other partials scheduled for pickup. I was able to find a third partial to pickup along route to round out the shipment. I guess all's well that ends well.

After this happening to me once( with TQL, with which I will not haul a load for ever again,TQL covered it for less , probably),

I now get ALL shipping/receiving details in writing, signed, conformation in an email they received it and it is legible...
call the shipper/receiver to confirm appt times,
(never again will I sit for 12 hours for an unload appt..after a 1400 mile run, they know you are not turning around or leaving..) ...

    then head to the shipper.

Pain in the neck...but it covers my ***...

There are a handful of contacts that I'll load with without a rate conf. ,
    just a verbal
but after dealing with the same people ,
    same loads for years,
I'm pretty confident I know I'll get paid, loaded and unloaded on time.
