Volvo/Cummins Cruise Control

    Yesterday I was told by another driver cruise control horsepower in my ISX can be changed. Does anyone know if this is true? How about some of you mechanics out there.

    Yes it can be set up with cruise control like that as an example a cummins ism can be a 370/410 which would be 410 on demand and cruise control would use it more.company I used to work for set there trucks at 370/410 and drivers would use the cruise on hills because of the little extra horsepower

    i'm not sure it works becouse when you set cruse on on your volvo, engine ecm keeps running like it runs usually in J1939 governor mode, becouse cruise control is VECU function in Volvo, not Engine ECM.

    VECU appeared in 1997 on '98 model year, but early series 60 and Celect plus were not VECU ready and Volvo used direct engine control like with D12A, so Vecu was used with D12C and early ISX (with CM570 ECM)

    Version-2 controls EECM by J1939 (J1708 as redundance) only with any engine (D9B, D12D, D13, D16, any Cummins ISX, ISM, ILS, Cat and other)

    What I'd really like to do would be to turn it down. Do y'all think that's possible? I currently have the ISX 450 and I was wondering why I always get 6.8 mpg while using the throttle but it goes down to about 6.0 while using cruise control.
