I am having trouble with the 12 volt plug in the sleeper of my 2005 Freightliner Columbia. It is wired with what almost looks like bellwire? Really small gauge and seems to impede current flow. Can I wire one from the fuse box area myself? How?

Explain more in how you are having trouble with it? Most of the plugs have a fuse protect build in on the center terminal.

If what your trying to power is too much for that wire then it's too much for that circuit on that plug and you might burn something up.
