I just finished my schooling at California Truck Driving Academy and will be flying to Missoula on New Years to start orientation with Watkins Shepard on the third. I thought the training was good but in the beginning you don't think you will have enough time to learn everything before you take your behind the wheel tests. All the written tests you just have to study the CDL book so the classroom sessions were not as valuable to me as the actually practicing at the yard. I did not have any trouble passing any of the endorsement tests (I took all of them including passenger) or the pre-trip, skills, and road test. I chose them because of their location (close to me in Orange) and the other school I talked to in Santa Ana was I think American Truck Driving School that is in Corona but had a satellite office in Santa Ana. They told me they would give me one on one training with a six speed truck so I could get my CDL quicker than other schools. I found that to be pretty shady since that is just driving a large four wheeler without having to float or double clutch. I would recommend CTDA to anyone interested and as long as you follow the instructors instructions (and know your left from your right) you will have your CDL by the end of the class. Ron Paul 2012, I've read some of your other posts so I know you're Watkins Shepard out of SFS. Do you have any advice for me about orientation. I've read most of the posts on this site about it but wanted your opinion about what to study for or watch out for during my ten days. Thanks.
