After weeks of research and consideration I decided that Millis was my best option of entering the industry with company sponsored training. I have been talking to the recruiters and my application is currently being processed. The question is this: does Millis take new student from IL? I know we are in the hiring area, but given our odd ball CDL requirements, many places won't take IL students. The recruiters never mentioned this as an issue, but was just wondering if I should be focusing my attention on other companies that I am certain will take an IL resident such as Prime.
Any insight would be great. Even if I have to start some place else, I hope to eventually make my way to Millis. It just seems like a great company to work for.
Quick question from an IL resident.

As far as I know a driver from Illinois is preferred because it's one of our most traveled-through states. You shouldn't have any issues with that.
slim shady Thanks this. -
my trainer's last student was from illinois. so you are good.

Thanks for the replies. Was just a little worried considering how we Illinois residents are doomed to be punished for our handful of corrupt politicians in the past and our inability to simply transfer a CDL from out of state.

Heard from Alice today and was accepted. Only took 48 hours. lol As long as I can get my physical and permit in order, I should be in the July 9th class in Ohio.

Congrats dmgabe, I am currently in the Ohio class now. You will love Bill, he is an awesome instructor.

Thanks. Really looking forward to it. Been studying up for a while now, but have to have my med card before I can get my permit her in IL. Physical is next Thursday, and will hopefully have my permit in had Friday. Was planning on driving myself to class, you have any idea if this is encouraged or discouraged by Millis? Forgot to ask when I had them on the phone earlier.

You can drive if you wish. You can go home for up to a week after class before going out with your trainer. There are a few guys here that drove. There is a minivan to get back and forth to school in from the hotel. (the hotel is 30 minutes from school) Weekends get REALLY boring at the hotel if you don't have some wheels. (not supposed to take the van anywhere after your at the hotel except to and from school. You can however go to walmart or something on your way back to the hotel if all the other students want to go too.)

Sounds like the car is a good plan then. I hate not having transportation. Even if I am not going anywhere, not having a car available drives me crazy.

yeah it would be nice, I didn't know that was an option or I would have driven
