Fuel Island...THE RULES!!!!!

Most dumb accidents happen at the fuel island and it's because they are not paying attention or think they own the #### place and expect everyone else to move for them when they come along. The answer would be to have some common sense and common courtesy when motoring around the truck stops and fueling up. Truck stops are there to make our lives easier on the road. Not to make enemies or to make our insurance rates go up by being involved in stupid avoidable accidents. So please be kind and be courteous to your fellow drivers out there. Including even those four wheelers too!

 

There are no rules at the fuel island anymore. Two days ago in Colby,KS, I saw a driver park at the pumps, at the Pilot; go inside, and proceed to play the fake slot machine. When I was leaving, he was bringing his ticket to cashier. As I was leaving, 15 minutes later he still had not come out. In Laramie,WY, got fuel at the pilot, went in got my receipt, and waited another 10 minutes for the driver to move his truck off the pay line. He comes out with a bag of Wendy's food, and some other stuff, and then... he pulls off,and goes to find a parking space.

 

2 or 3 weeks ago a refer driver from CA left his truck idling at the pump and went to take a shower. DesMoines, IA pilot.

 

Fuel islands are simply a microcosm of society in general.
You have considerate people and people that think only of themselves.
Always been that way, always will be.

I pulled a tanker for Pilot for a year/half in Knoxville Tn. Man the stories I could tell.....

I swear that there was a dude at a Pilot in NY (can't remember where exactly) that parked his truck in the #1 spot, pulled a couple of trash cans and an orange cone or two behind his trailer and went to sleep.

 

Touché, driver. I never thought about it in that context.

 

Had one yesterday in Amarillo. truck was backing out as I was pulling into spot next to him, truck in front had pulled up but than must have went inside to spend all day in the store. I got my fuel, topped off reefer and pulled up, used restroom and got fresh soda paid for fuel and as I was walking back to truck I see the idiot walking back to his truck with a bag full of goodies. Well he than jumps in and cuts off another truck pulling out just to go park in the front row

 

Fueled in Pontoon Beach, IL yesterday. Schneider next to me....brand new Cascadia. Finishes fueling, goes inside without pulling up. Comes back out and does something I had never seen done before in this situation.

No one in front of him. Nobody. He backs up from the fuel island and heads out the exit as if to save the time going around the scale. As I glanced at his truck when he pulled away I noticed his "million miler" stickers on his tractor....

And just a few hours ago at the Loves in Jackson, TN, I finished fueling and pulled up. There are (I think) 8 fuel pumps there....when I walked in, mine was empty (since I pulled up), one trucker was fueling, and the other SIX were parked at the pumps with nothing being done. I walked in to get a copy made, and there was one driver there setting up his payment. But that still left 5 trucks sitting there with nothing goin' on....
