    Seeing how this thread has totally gone off topic, I thought this the best place to ask MY question: What is the best way to dress a Flying J coffee ? Cream, Milk, or Whitener ? Tks for your replies.

    I'm going to jump back in here and relate my experience: IMO it's not so much what you pull as much as it is how far and how well you've pulled it. Job stability, driving record and CSA score will be your best friends at the interview.

    For me to cross over to a major private tank fleet I needed at least 6 months tank to go with my 10 years of good trucking so I did 6 months local gas delivery. It was split days off, straight nights and slip seat ops. I brought home a whopping $650 every 2 weeks plus or minus for 140 hrs plus free time. ( carrier required you to show 2 hrs before shift and pressure check all 18 tires, everyday, and not log it, no sheet ) and then Praxair gave me the job......

    I'm curious though, what's your thing with parking lots? They are hard work and it's tedious work. Money is good but you earn every penny. Every branch and every rail road crossing is your enemy. I've known some to high ball the center cars only to get screwed when they jump on a bump. You'll load and unload in the rain and snow. And if you work for somebody you'll be subject to layoff until you build time......if it's your stuff then the bus. will be up and down depending on sales and the economy.

    What's the allure?

    I retired from Jack Cooper 10 years ago and worked out of Houston...Before JCT bought us....I worked for United Transports...Speedloader's right ...In 1976 there were 40 K Of us Teamster carhaulers...It's now less than 10 K...As far as damage claims off that Hardy Rd. lot.....I once went seven years working the city hauling between 5 and 6 thousand units a year.......With NO CLAIMS..A couple of those years were working nights and leaving units STI....Car hauling has been ruined by rate cutters like Waggoneers and Sierra Mountain ( the worst )....GOOD carhaulers won't work for the wages these two are paying....CAR Transport is just as bad....
