Well I ventured back down the five miles to the shipper since dispatch and I couldn't get them on the phone. They shut down completely at 1400 and brought in generators to keep the warehouse cold. No idea when they'll be back up again and apparently there is another set of severe storms coming through tonight. I'm hunkered down at the Ramada.
-
That sucks. Are you shipping out of Whitewave or the Cold Storage place? Also, glad to hear you are at least in a hotel til everything passes.
-
Out of Whitewave. Harrisonburg proper seems to be the only place with electricity. Also no diesel on 81 for almost a 100 miles!
-
Lol. That's a bit ridiculous.
I've been on a mini hiatus.. Got to the lakehouse yesterday and just relaxing. A few friends showed up last night to keep me company and got some fishing in this morning. Headed out tomorrow night tho. Short trip to Chicago for Monday Morning. -
I talked to Leah earlier and she filled me in on the pandimonium down there. Good to hear that you are all safe and enjoying a mini vacation! Just and FYI make sure and hit up your dispatcher for layover pay since it is out of our control you aren't running. I ended up getting out of that area in the knick of time, grabbed a trailer of gobblers in Hinton and hauled kiester out to Crete, NE. Nothing like sitting at a slaughterhouse on a day over 100 degrees and humidity through the roof.

Ladies at c-store just told me there is now no gasoline for about 100 miles either. Fun times!
-
I delivered salt/pepper blend there on Friday. You're probably pulling 941?

Man, last night was insane!!! i've never witness nothing like what i drove home in.... I left Waynesboro around 8:30 and i just kept noticing flashes of light in my mirror while going south on Route 20 out of Charlottesville... and once i got onto Route 60 it was like i was driving in a Hurricane.. Crazy thing was it barely rained!!! But for 20 miles there was trees, branches, debris, etc. for across the road... again i've never seen anything like i did last night!!! I heard 81 looked like a war zone from Roanoke to Winchester.....
Also Notez, glad to hear Truck Enterprises did great work for you.. but trust me, they are far from top notch!!! Hope they got your truck fixed tho... -
I left Toms Brook last night and headed north...I grabbed some fuel at the J in winchestor...man was that place a mess...trucks were everywhere and it was an hour wait just to get out cause the manager had to go around banging on doors to wake up drivers that parked in the traffic path and in front of the fuel island (idiots)
it was one hell of a tight squeeze to get out...and as I was leaving the sheriff and tow trucks were showing up to ticket and tow...
I made it as far as the PA turn pike and the second service plaza going north before the Z monster finally struck...so I shut down for 8 hours...now I am on the border of indiana and ohio..taking a 10...I could have driven the last couple hours...but that would have put me in Gary...and thats one place I don't want to stay overnight...(although I did think about the Cabela's...)....
