i'm curious as to why rand is the ONLY unit that needs to be charged BEFORE actually usingh it.
NO OTHER GPS HAS BATTERY ISSUES.
i took mine back after two weekis. and not becuasew of the battery issue that i had no idea about. it's routing just flat out SUCKS. i've had pcmiler since. doesn't have the fancy features. but it was the cheapest. and i've been happier then any other unit i tried. .
I finally bought a TND 510, wish me luck!

It is not a battery issue.
Routing - give examples? Just because it does not route you the way you want to go does not mean the routing sucks. It is a computer, it has a map database along with code (program) to route you in reference to what the map database has in it.
Roads are restricted in many places with no signs posted. Just because another truck is on the road does not make it truck legal. The road could be a Non-STAA road and if you are set to 53' long and 102" wide, you will not be routed on it. Roads also have weight restrictions.
If you could clairify what routes you took and where you feel it mis-routed you I could find out if the road is legal or not.
Thanks,

let's just say my pcmiler takes me where trucks belong. rand doesn't. instead it takes you where trucks DON'T belong.
routing sucks. that's all there is too it.
and YES. being a retired mechanic. we all throw batteries in a car ALL THE TIME. they aren't like motorcycle batteries.
you don't see a diesel mechanic charging batteries before throwing them in your truck. why would cars be any different. -
Thanks,
