I recently got a full inspection from dot in California. On the ticket i received 2 violations but both were correctable violations. #1 expired registration # 2 tire cut to wire and tire wear below 2/32.. keep in mind this is vocational vehicle Dump truck.. dot officer asked me for paper called owners responsibility.. on the ticket he put my bosses name on the registered owner. ok now he also gave me a driver/vehicle examination report with same violations plus 5 more violations.. gross weight at 87,000 vs 54000 this is because my boss hasnt updated to 80k , defective tire, dump bed warning device, 2 brakes were out adjustment, and missing lug nuts.. i know its looking bad for me. in what ways will this effect me? csa report? :msad:my boss and i are going to court on aug 9 with all violations corrected.. i also didnt understand why the officer just gave me two violations on the ticket and the rest on the driver/vehicle examination report..

You do understand that a lot of this, you should've caught during your pre-trip, right? Did you check your tires? Did you notice the missing lug nuts? Did you take a look at how your slack adjusters were positioned?

Dump bed warning device... is probably a state thing. Were they talking about a warning device in the cab to alert the driver, or an audible device outside of the cab?
As for what you're going to accrue as far as CSA points... I can't tell you. But I'm fairly positive you will receive some, as some of these violations are your responsibility as a driver to detect and have corrected.

yea i told the officer i take full responsibility from my part of the pre inspection.. i should not drive a unsafe vehicle. sucks because i was only planning to work at this small construction company for 1 year to get my experience to apply to fedex freight. my best friends dad owns couple of routs.. this i THINK shoot down my chances.. i hope not. but anyways this is mostly my fault.. after court i do plan in ordering a CSA results to see if i got any points.. what about MVR?

Did you receive a ticket with the option to either pay up or make a court appearance?

If the violations were on the inspection report you're stuck with them on your CSA no matter what happens in court, you might get some removed by filing a Data Q if some get dropped in court but i wouldn't hold my breath.

2 years for the company, 3 years for a driver.

Not only are companies held accountable for their drivers, drivers are held accountable for who they drive for. Chose your employers wisely. Your boss sounds like he has a total disregard for the regulations and is now paying for it. Though you had other choices, unfortunately he is dragging you down with him with his lack of actions and trying to save a buck. If he cared anything about you he wouldn't of asked you to drive an unsafe vehicle. I bet he keeps it up in the future.

Only tickets issued in your name will make your MVR. Everything on the inspection report will go on your CSA record. The first year points are multiplied by 3, 2nd year x2, 3rd year x1. Depending on the point values will determine how quick you can get another job. There is some leeway. You can google and find the point values. I've seen a pdf before with them on it. I think it was on landlinemagazine.com 's website.
