Well, I'm really hoping I didn't just shoot myself in the foot. I requested the first week in July off over a month and a half ago. I am moving from WA to MT. I already have rental trucks reserved and paid for, and family from Australia and Wisconsin waiting on me to get there. My regular FM isn't at work today. But the standby just gave me a multiple drop load that is heading to ILL, and doesn't drop until the 6'th. So needless to say by the time I get home my family will be gone and I will have lost my deposits for the rental trucks.
so I called up standby FM and told him that the load he gave me isn't going to work and he needs to get me home. Mind you, over been out for over 2 months now also. I love working here and take a lot of Pride in making as much money for Prime as I can. I would hope prime will now take care of me.

Your stand in FM might not have noticed your needing to go home
-
Wow, that brings back memories! I used to drive for prime and i had an occasion that i had to be in also. I had tickets to a garth brooks tickets and gave a months notice. I wound up having to deadhead 600 miles because they couldn't get me in.

My stand in FM knew I needed to get home last week when he sent me up to North Dakota. Seems to me they just don't care.
-
Wow... My FMs been bugging me about when I want to go home.

Best of Luck driver, hope you make it.MONT74 Thanks this. -
Sometimes you have to stand your ground, refuse the load, and insist on load home. And no I doubt they really give much thought to what you want....

Can't say I've been in this situation.
However as a reefer driver I would have been asking questions about the game plan the second I found out my load was going to SD. I've never picked up anything there, in ND or Montana, and I'm not aware of any reefer customers up there.
Id be asking the gameplan because everyone of my deliveries in those states have resulted in my dead heading to either MN, IA, or ID for reload.
By asking the gameplan, my FM wouldn't neccesarily have any specifics, but at least he has to give me sort of thought process and this also gives him a chance to reconsider this thought. At least consider a repower situation with someone headed to where you need to go, meanwhile he can deliver your load.
Repower might suck for the other guy, but if it was me I'm always game to help someone get home.
I think you are FB, so you can take this for what it is from a reefer driver. FB have a few more options than we do in that upper central plain states.MONT74 Thanks this. -
Thanks U2, that's the thing, I had been coordinating with my FM about a game plan, then he disappeared for a couple of days and his replacement sent me up here to ND. We pick a lot of lumber loads out of Spearfish, so I didn't question it. Lack of coordination between dispatchers is the problem I believe.
so I talked to replacement FM before he went home. To his cozy couch and he told me to find a camping spot. Supposedly sales has absolutely nothing heading west. I even asked for a load to CA, atleast its in the right direction. -
It does depend on the freight - unfortunately.
