Eishenhower last week west bound I70. O/O hit the last ramp, must of been going 100+ cause he looked like he was trying to jump the mountain, he was all the way at the top. That's why you need to respect that 35mph speed limit. Every week I see smokin brakes.

Went down some 10% Grades today. Was happy for Jakes and lower gears.

I bet he was holding that steering wheel so tight his handprints are permanently engraved in it. If it were me I'd probably push the brake pedal through the floorboard.....lol

Those ramps are there of course for safety , but mainly today used by someone over gross with permits driving too fast for conditions. I would say from my experience it was used many times with the pre 80's trucks. They did not have the technology or the braking we have today. Did people run hard back then? Of course , and they would end up using these ramps as they created tracks in their underwears.

some years ago there is a runaway ramp on rt115 by wilkes barre pa and the local news station 16 was doing an expose' on the ramp and a straight truck lost its brakes and went up the ramp .....live and in color

You know, if a truck is barreling down the side of a mountain, out of control, at 70mph, brakes smokin and flamin, the last thing i want going through a driver's head is, "gee wiz, should i really use that ramp and avoid killing other drivers and/or myself?? that could cost me a thousand dollars!!".
Safety should come first and there shouldn't even be a second guess to the matter. Ramp penalties are about the most absurd thing i've ever heard.FatDaddy Thanks this. -
Haha!! I would of did the same! He was way up there like a rollercoaster. He's lucky he kept it upright and didn't roll back down sideways.
