Wanted: Garmin Nuvi 465T

GPS is only as smart as the DOT person who supplied Garmin with the truck routing info. Why do you think GPS is useless in most of Illinois? Because the IL DOT got lazy, and told GPS manufacturers that trucks can go everywhere, rather than doing their jobs, and supplying height/weight restrictions on IL roads.

GPS is a tool, its ultimately up to you to read the signs to verify that you're good to go. "but officer, the GPS told me to go this way" is NOT an excuse.

 

I do have the old 465T, I've had MANY urges to throw it out the window, but it paid for itself in a month, with money it saved me in fuel routing me with better directions than my atlas, or a shipper could do. My urges to throw it out the window were in NYC when I wound up looking at Yankee stadium from the wrong side.
