Exactly.. my truck does triple digits...you will almost always find it in the right lane being passed on a very regular basis. I choose to run slower, a: to save fuel b: its safer and less stressful.

its funny how drivers who were never there 30 + years ago judge us who were there,we were respected then,by police and public.my truck runs well over 100, sometimes i run sometimes i just cruz, depends on mood, but either way i make the choice always have.

I agree that many freedoms have been taken away, but it's just like that trucker who pees on the parking lot of a Walmart with his door open ; then the next time you try to park there, there's signs everywhere "no trucks allowed" ... we all pay for the mistakes and carelessness of others in this industry ... So with that said, does this mean you're gonna just go ahead and park in Walmart where it clearly says "No Trucks"??? Yeah I agree it sucks ... big time, but as a free country, we have the right to fight for our rights. We have a court system and other methods of fighting for what we believe in, whatever that may be ... but in the argument of speeding over the speed limit; the point is you broke the law, no matter how stupid it was or is, it's the law man ... and if you can't uphold that or simply admit that you were wrong, then you're killing this country just as much as the next guy ...

That is what we have to do in ca

Could have fooled me, I swear I'm the only driver that does anything close to the speed limit out there.

I didn't read every page here, but I did read the first 40 posts.
Nice to see most replies are from people on the side of safety. I used to be an a-hole driver. Just always thought that was how we were supposed to drive. Got on with FedEx and then on to JB and my attitude was adjusted. Smith System certification should be a requirement for all Commercial drivers regardless of license class, and really should be required in order to get ANY license.
Personally, I do feel that all commercial vehicles, regardless of class/weight, should be governed to 65 or 70mph. Why? Because (especially for vehicles weighing 26,001lbs or higher), there's just no good reason to go any faster.
Anyway, on the topic of bad drivers...the safer I drive, the more obvious it becomes that the level of ignorance among all drivers is simply out of control. For you super-truckers out there, try it sometime before bashing the rest of us.
1. Do the speed limit, no matter what, for a week.
2. Turn your phones/CB off and simply pay attention to every vehicle in front of and behind you at all times.
3. Actively keep a 7 second following distance.
4. Instead of trying to pass someone going 1mph slower than you, just bump your cruise down and let them roll on.
5. When someone else tries to pass you at 1mph faster than you, be the better driver and back off and let them go by and get over.
6. Watch other truck drivers especially. You will soon see just how much of an icehole you've been.
Honestly, i'm ashamed of myself for having been the driver I used to be. I would call me in and report me for some of the crap I pulled years ago.Autocar, airforcetoo, windsmith and 2 others Thank this. -
Really?? shut the front door.......... I think I would rather stab myself In the head with a dull butter knife with the tip broke off

That's the same attitude I had before I had no choice but to do it or look elsewhere for work. It took some getting used to and a total overhaul of my driving behavior, but the grass really is greener on the safe-side of the fence. Doing 62mph will open your eyes to a lot of things.
Have fun with that butter knife, though.Autocar Thanks this. -
Amazing what we learn as we get older, ain't it?
airforcetoo Thanks this.
