another one for the stupidity file today too while i'm thinking about it.....coming down 33 after it splits off in athens where the barrels and construction are coming down the hill and there's an onramp....
two teenage boys on one of those scooters pulls RIGHT out in front of me and then proceeds down the road at 15mph.......even at 45mph i almost didn't get it slowed down in time.....almost plowed them over....and then 2 miles behind them at 15 mph and he's looking in his mirror and the idiot on the back seat is trying to get me to blow my horn for them.....
when they pulled off at the next getoff it was beside my lane and long so i rolled up beside them rolled down the window and really let them have it and informed them how close they came to dead.......
well i didn't know......
well #######, now you do

Why have I been having NOTHING but little kids wanting me to blow the 'ol air horn lately? haha I always do for them....just to see those great big smiles! But grown up guys on scooters? Man, you got something off of Les! lol I guess, like him, you gotta stamp on your forehead? lol I was passing a guy going up 95N last week....this #### driver wouldn't let me pass him....FINALLY after 10-15 minutes of side by side action I pass him.....pull over into the right lane, carrying around 45,000lbs, some jackwad in a gold pickup cuts off in front of me and slams on his brakes then flips me off.....I may be a little guy, but it's a #### good thing it took me a while to get back to speed! Good thing my CB was on...I called him out, and yet, again, other drivers helped me out and cut his ### off! THEY SLOWED HIM DOWN! lol I guess I have some luck with fellow drivers out here on the road, that's always a plus! haha

malwart! I LOVE THAT!!!!! Yeah....I've been lucky on getting good smoke prices, so far! I've had to cut back, which is good! Well, guess I'll just start being mr a sshole then from now on and if I need malwart....screw you, I'll search and pull off....guess blame it on the DM? haha S hit I did 450 miles today in under 7 hours with 7 mpg! I guess I'm just sucking at this truck driving DM! haha h ell I think my freakin' e-log is possessed!!!!!!!! It will turn out some CRAZY numbers that I didn't think was possible....guess Genesis, Slayer, Dream Theater, Chick Corea helped out today! haha

so.....300 miles from home, didn't get there this weekend, sitting in nowhereville, tn for 46 hours waiting on a live unload appointment, and not only that but a walmart live unload.....and dm is on vacation next week......seems someone might have given his bad luck to me lol but 2880 for the week on 5 days out and still one more day to run till cutoff so still not a bad week for having a holiday thrown in there......
just a note on the walmart live unloads for any of the newer guys that haven't had the joy of doing one yet......get in there early enough to be at the receiving desk before your appointment time, NOT at the gate or driving the 2 miles around the building to the traffic office to check in....... if you roll up to the receiving desk 1 minute past your appointment time they will stamp a big red LATE on your bills, even if you were 15 minutes early checking in at the gate. stamped in on time at the gate doesn't mean ####. been there done that. did one a couple months ago and i was 20 minutes early pulling up to the gate about 12th in line wondering why all the trucks were so backed up. they knew. and the chick at desk was super snotty when i said something because i was checked in at the gate early and she had me stamped 1 minute late..... i go in one of these places now 45 minutes early and just have to eat the time. by the time you get in line, roll up one spot at a tiime, check in and get all the way around there, that time will almost be gone. at least i'm close and will have almost a full 11 to run by the time i get out of there monday.
don't trust that q/c milage d......it's not exactly accurate and will give some crazy numbers. the only way you can figure it for sure is keep track of how many gallons are in the tank vs how much you run and then how much goes in next time you fill. you'll be surprised what you get vs what that #### box says. some days it's way better, some days the same, some days worse.....
if you've got the right kind of gps, you can set it up to show where the walmarts and grocery stores are....if not there's a book you can get called the next exit that tells what is at every exit on all the major interstates....stores, walmarts, grocery, gas stations, hotels, resturants and other shopping.....just look for the exits on your route that have a supercenter they're usually pretty easy to get in and out of with the truck......somebody also posted somewhere on here there's an app for it if you have a smartphone.....also if you have the smartphone you can pull up the map for it before you get there and zoom in and see the approach and exit and layout of the parking lot and not have to roll in there blind
at least i've got good tv signal and decent internet. going to be a long 2 days. -
There you are! Sorry you didn't make it home this weekend but glad you're getting the miles.
Be Safe!! -
yeah will be a good check next week because i'll be over 3000 no matter what i get out of here monday and if i get a long one will be well over 3k......but from where i am most likely 3-400 out of here unless i get lucky.
and i can in no way complain. 2 weekends stuck out so far this year and one of them voluntary isn't bad for any company out here. it happens
just having it pushed on me is what bites. that and having to wait almost 2 days....would have been alot better if i could just have gotten a 34 and rolled -
Chickenman i applied to epes recently havent heard back from them...they show on the website that they run vermont area....do they and would they hire me out of vermont? could u let me know...thnks

Hello Epes drivers.....Just got done talking with a recruiter about short haul out of savannah, ga. anyone have any info on that? I drove for 2 1/2 years for central refrigerated about 2 1/2 years ago. i was looking for any insight, like would you get home daily? also does Epes do the physical abilities testing where they monitor your heart rate? i am just wanting to cover all bases. I have enjoyed everyones posts and believe this is a very good company to work for. Ready to get back on the road. thanks for any info.
-
I think that position is home daily. No there is not a physical ability test other than the basic physical. (Dot) .
-
thanks for the info. i am looking forward to starting on and being home everynight is just what i need. i am still trying to catch up on all the post here, alot of good information on this company and what is expected.
