Yes, BUT either way, if your truck is down for 9 days you will go into the negative. Alot of people don't think about that. The lease payments don't stop just because the truck stops. This is what happened to the OP. He got a bad truck that ended up costing him money before he could really get rolling. He obviously didn't think this through and he obviously doesn't understand leasing at all.

Buy lease it doesn't matter trucking companies are rip off artist. Buy and run under your own authority and you can keep the money you make, I know that's what I use to do.

Prime doesn't - at least in my experience. When OOIDA was suing every carrier in the industry over escrow account irregularities, their case against Prime was thrown out with prejudice. That means the court decided that they'd had enough of OOIDA wasting their time.
Please, stop with the crap. I'm a realist, and most of the people whining on these pages about any carrier only need look in the mirror to see who caused most of their troubles. This is business. There are no nicieties, and trust is something that is built up through experience - not because you can walk into a room and operate a pen. Walk into a lease with no cash reserve in the bank, treat that settlement check like its a paycheck you can just blow without thought instead of the revenue stream that it is - and you have created a financial disaster for yourself no matter which carrier you lease to, or how your truck is financed. Whether its leased, owned by the bank, or if you own it outright, you're courting disaster.OpenRoadDreamer and joseph1135 Thank this. -
Why do you keep saying I entered a lease with no money to back my self? That is totally wrong. My complaint is that Prime kept every penny of $6,500.00 I earned and that is stealing. If you think Prime is so great stay there and let them steal your money to , that's what they are counting on.

IP, I agree. But I think the word "trusting" in this context refers to one's inherent nature. I know that would describe me well up through my 20s. Business, yes. But the fact of the matter is that different personality types approach a business transaction from different perspectives, right or wrong, for richer or poorer. It's just a fact of life. Not everyone is cut out to do everything. I'm glad I took one of those tests back around the time I was 30 that outlined what careers I was cut out for. Very enlightening. I think more people should do this. Might give 'em a better look at themself.ironpony said: ↑Hold on a minute. "They are generally trusting...?" This is business, not some sort of social self-help agency. In business, you are expected to be an adult, looking out for your own interests, and ensuring that any contract you sign is in your own best interest. If you walk into a room to enter a business deal "trusting," you're going to get reamed. Either you've done your homework up front and assured yourself that the revenue stream is adequate to support your contractual obligations, or you need to pass on it.Click to expand...

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect to be paid for the work you do minus the operating cost but that is not what happened here. I was billed and paid out of my settlement for $4,836.00 worth of tires that I didn't put on my truck and have never seen. If that's what you call just business you better look at a new approach to trucking. I call it stealing.

$6,500 total gross revenue in how many weeks? Or was there more? You authorized costs that were billed to Prime and passed along to you - that's not stealing, unless you are speaking of you stealing from yourself.redcatcher said: ↑Why do you keep saying I entered a lease with no money to back my self? No, it's not unreasonable, but you are considered an adult in one of these transactions, and are responsible to ensure that your costs do not exceed your revenue. No one else has that responsibility except for you. Tires? Read your contract. That is a cost totally borne by yourself.redcatcher said: ↑I don't think it is unreasonable to expect to be paid for the work you do minus the operating cost but that is not what happened here. Are you an idiot? Did you read what I said? I did not buy any tires but I was billed for them. Read before you open your mouth.
