Okay this is a friends truck and it's been over heating. He replaced t-stats in it and it didn't help. So having to deliver a load took them off, but it's still running hot. 220 to 240 when pulling a hill it won't cool off even with fan. He got home replaced the radiator and water pump left the t-stats off, still no luck.. Any ideas? He says he's not losing any water either..

    How old is his radiator?
Has it it ever been cleaned?
Outside AND inside.(i had a truck overheat because radiator was clogged inside)

There are engines that will run hotter with no thermostats than with thermostats. Water goes radiator too fast and will not get cooled.

The old one he cleaned with some cleaner sold to him by freightliner and then changed out the thermostats, then the radiator and pump..

Is it possible that the temp sensor is bad if the power is still good and the engine is not derating it could be simple. There are several sensors the gauge and the ECM use different ones. Just a thought.
