I can't imagine trying to drive a rig on the Grapevine. I too am originally from Cali but been in Texas for about 10 yrs or so now. I grew up driving thru the vine. I'd prolly drive off a cliff![]()

Jons... Just curious.. but you're in Arizona... Why not Swift? I think Swift and Werner are about the same. I would think there would be many more opportunities with Swift living in Arizona. Just wondering.

This thread should be about Werner, being that is what the topic is about! I'm sure there is another thread about swift and if not start another one.

I agree...there's ones way worse that...like cabbage hill or Loveland pass.

Best post I read in along time.Everything you sid is SO TRUE.It's hard very hard starting out but you paid your dues and look where you're at now.I also started out with Werner and it was bad then but not as bad as it is now otherwise I would'nt have stuck with them for 3 yrs.I was ready to walk before my first yr was up.But knew considering the little exp I had I was'nt going to find any better.Back when I was there the economy was'nt bad and neither were the laws. Now no matter what company you go with, especially the starter companies, you're not going to find a company that suits you untill you do get some exp and know the games companies like to play.problemsolved233 Thanks this.

Basically these so called training co's really are not interested in whether you succeed or not...all they care is that a trainer signs off on the paperwork and the co signs off to submit the paperwork so they can collect the govt $$$.
When I was a trainer..I made it a personal policy that my students were as compentent as possible to operate the truck & do there job with as little assistance as possible when near completion of training...
If I felt like they either needed additional training or just weren't compentent to be a driver I stated to training dept..
Under no circumstances would I sign off saying they were compentent if they weren't because of reason...if they go out and kill someone, you can bet on it that the lawyers would go after you trainer & the co would throw you under the bus.
If the co wanted to just upgrade someone who didn't cut it in the name of $$$..they could sign the paperwork, not me!Kash6972 Thanks this. -
I heard a lot of bad things about swift, I really wanted gordon trucking inc out of tucson but they only take students out of southwest truck driving school andI went to HDS trucking institute so I need 6 months but I also have an app in with swift, may trucking, kllm, usa truck, us xpress, and a few others...crete wont hire me because I went to HDS, I would have a job with raehl but they wont lease top az residence....still doing home work trying to find whats best for me or what I think may be best for me...I have 2 more weeks to figure it out though.
