That is what is left of my driving school after spending two weeks in the classroom and one week in the yard not shifting just backing. Two weeks does not feel like a lot of time to learn how to shift and handle the streets with traffic.

It'll be enough for you to get comfortable enough to pass your road test and get your CDL. Hopefully you get plenty of driving in during this 2 weeks.

If it makes you feel any better, I only had about 30 minutes of road driving before I took my road test, and I did just fine.

How many in the class? How many hours will you get in the next two weeks?

Some schools just teach the basic mechanics. Just enough to get your license. You will have plenty of time when out with a trainer to get more honed, and then even more the first year. Then again, more every year after!!! hehehehehe

I only did a four week class. One week studying to pass the learners test, then a mix of driving and classroom the other three weeks. So you are probably not much different than my school.

Driving school is a place to learn the basics in order to move on. There'll be a lot left to learn, some of which really isn't feasible to try teaching in a driving school environment. You're not to learn to navigate mountain passes at a truck driving school in the middle of the plains, you know?

CDL school doesn't teach you to be a driver. That takes months and years of experience. Their responsibility is helping you get a CDL, as that is what you paid them to do. You don't learn how to drive until you get hired by a company and placed through their training program.

I could teach an 8 year old how to drive a truck forward if they could reach the pedals. It's the backing part that gets most people. If your fairly comfortable backing you've got the biggest challenge under control.

In two weeks your going do have enough skill to pass the test. Just pay attention and don't worry, you'll do fine.

I will head the other way. :biggrin_25522: j/k. :biggrin_25519:
