I worked in the van division and after 6 months there were no miles to be had and my FM from ellenwood was a donkeys butt.
I switched to flats and haven't seen a load less than 500 miles so far. Averaging much more miles per week than van.
I will say the main reason I like roehl is the home time. I go out for 18 days and take 4 off.
I wanted to do the lease purchase with roehl at first, but now I know there are much better places out there.
I do love working here and have a good FM in the flatbed division. I also have never had a problem getting home. The only thing I'm worried about is when I leave for a different company I don't wanna only get one day off for every week out. I wanna be able to run 2-3 weeks then take off 4-5 days.

Mic, I too am in Reefer. and frustrated. Miles are all over the place and loads are always late and forced down your throat. Where are you now. Snap

So true! They have no clue. I am amazed they make any money. I sure don't.

He is either clueless, afraid to move elsewhere, or he lives in his truck and has no outside responsibilities. I have met plenty of guys like that at Roehl. This is not the place for experienced drivers who have a life other than driving a truck.
-
If you have any experience, and if you have a life outside your truck, look elsewhere. You won't be happy here.
-
that's not totally fair, if Roehl is a good fit for you why leave? I had several guys with 20 plus years in, all on flatbed, and running regional. Dudes made good money, didn't get micro managed because there was no point, and home time was predictable. is this everyone's experience? Nope, but it can happen. Regardless of where you're at if your needs aren't being met you're either going to have to seek improvement in your current situation, or look for another opportunity. It's as much a business decision for you as it is for the company. It's important to make sure your demands are realistic, like if I want to ride a unicorn I can keep searching and searching but never find it, so I might need to settle for a horse with a cone stapled to it's forehead.

you are spot on meltom, awesome response ! -
My fleet manager hardly ever contacts me. He sends me a load and leaves me alone. He's awesome. I email him if I have any questions, I'll call him if its urgent.
My last FM out of ellenwood would call me all the time. 6 months in and he would always use the phrase "I know your new, but..."
He liked to set my eta's for me as if they were appts. Id have a window on a load, say it was 0800-1600. He'd set an eta for 0800. If I got behind id send in my eta changed to 1000 once and he threw a fit like a toddler. My current FM let's me make my own choices.
I'm MUCH happier in flatbed

I really enjoy listing to new drivers cry about not having new trucks, or trucks with lots of miles. Do you listen to yourselfs? You're fresh outta school know how to drive just enough to pass a drive test. And you want a brand new truck, come on. These companies are shady not stupid! Like they're going to give your green ### a brand new truck.
Gotta pay your dues like everyone else did.DrtyDiesel, Lux Prometheus and DirkSteel Thank this. -
My first truck had 660k miles. I loved that truck and it got sold at 725k. For anyone to complain about high mileage trucks is ridiculous. In school they always preached to us to go to a company with new equipment and recruiters always thought that was a selling point. I have a new truck today because of the division I switched too.
My recruiter with roehl told me I would not receive a new truck, I didn't, and she didn't promise me anything but starting pay.
I know I ain't experienced and I'm still a rookie, I'll be a rookie till I retire. Everyone's always complaining these days. Some are legit, some are because they're spoon fed by mommy and daddy
