We drive a 2012 cascadia and have the xbox upright (wedged to not fall over) in the top cabinet above the tv (behind passenger side) and I don't feel like it's the best set up. For starters I like to play while my husband drives, but we have hit some big bumps in the road that ruined the game disc. Secondly, we have to keep the cabinet door wedged open for the power cord to come out the front. So I'm wondering how you have yours set up. Also any options that stabilize it and keep it from bouncing around so much and possibly ruining the console one day (not just the games inside).

The vents aren't covered and we have a clip on fan that blows directly on it

The fans in the xbox pull air out not in so becareful or that can make it over heat too. Download the game to the HDD so you only need the disk to start the game. Does not spin after the game starts. Reduces the risk of disc or laser damage.

I don't have an Xbox but I have a PS3. I keep mine in the cabinet behind me and run all the cables trough a hole on the side. When I play games in the evening I have to keep the cabinet door open to let the heat out. This set up works just fine for me. But if you want to play while rolling you should download the game to the drive.

The disc will still spin even if dl'd to the HDD, Big Bumps+Spinning disc=death ring...how much are you playing? short intervals, put it on a pillow (since you said you have a intercooler) long time? play xbla games instead.

What I wanna know is how I'm gonna get on live once I get my own truck?

Yeah, I'd not play my xbox if you're running down the road. You will definitely shorten the life of it. While it is powered on, it needs to not be bumped around or moved. Used to keep mine, in the house, by my bass....the vibration ruined the thing. Actually had two go bad before figured it out with support from the Gamestop guy.

I also am completely against standing them up. Unless it's on a glass surface. But if you are on wood, you're killing it. Whether you have a fan on it or not. That's more experience.

I've been doing the xbox deal since day one. Was a beta tester for Live. I've owned a lot of them. Went through the bs of the rings of death and waiting for the coffin from Microsoft.

I keep my xbox on a shelf I built where the factory fridge use to be. One shelf is the xbox, the other is my printer. I also do not keep my xbox plugged in unless I'm playing it. Another bit of advice I got from my Gamestop. Said it's best not to even be plugged in if it's jostled around, as in a truck running down the road.

Get one of the Slims. They have wireless built in. I get on with my Verizon Mifi. In 4G, it's fast enough to actually play. 3G generally works just for chatting...sometimes....or uploading achievements, sending messages etc....

That is if you have time to play.

you never know when you gotta reset or a layover, So many good multiplayers coming out this fall/winter, would hate to spend my home time glued to the box with my homeys and ignoring the family.

Halo 4 comes out in November but I prefer PS3 at this stage because of the blu ray. Anyway good tips in this thread.
